    Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable media for controlling cooling in a diesel fueled power generation unit. The system includes a first cooling circuit configurable in a first mode for directing an oil coolant portion into main oil cooler and an intercooler coolant portion into an intercooler and configurable in a second mode for limiting the oil coolant portion provided to the main oil cooler. The system also includes a supplementary oil cooler for cooling a portion of the lubrication oil and a supplementary coolant source for providing a second coolant flow to the supplementary oil cooler. The system also includes a second cooling circuit in communication with the supplementary oil cooler configurable in the first mode for limiting the portion of the lubrication oil provided to the supplementary oil cooler and configurable in the second mode for directing the portion of the lubrication oil to the supplementary air oil cooler.

    Abstract: A cooling apparatus (10) and method for a turbocharged internal combustion engine (12). The combustion air (16) exiting a turbocharger (18) is passed over an air-to-water intercooler (40) then over an air-to-air intercooler (42) for heat exchange with liquid coolant and with ambient air (32) respectively. During periods of low ambient air temperature, the combustion air may be directed through a bypass duct (80) around the air-to-air intercooler, and further, may be heated by the coolant in the air-to-water intercooler. A multi-speed fan (44) and/or shutters (48) may be used to control the flow of ambient air across the air-to-air intercooler. A cooling duct (68) provides a flow of ambient air to the fan motor (46) during periods of operation when the flow of ambient air over the air-to-air heat exchanger is restricted by the shutters. Coolant exiting a subcooler (28) has the lowest temperature in the system and is directed to a lube oil cooler (34) for engine lubricant cooling.

    Abstract: A system and method for recycling first and second quantities of process heat from a vapor having substantially the total initial process heat where the vapor is channeled from at least one apparatus in which a process having a vapor utilization phase is practiced. The preferred embodiment of the system comprises at least one steam sterilizer, apparatus for channeling steam having substantially the total process heat from one of the sterilizers to a first phase change material where the first quantity of heat is absorbed by the first phase change material and water, having the second quantity of heat, is yielded. A fluid, preferably a refrigerant, is passed through the first phase change material for transfer of the first quantity of heat to the refrigerant. The refrigerant is then compressed in a compressor to provide a sufficient quantity of additional heat to raise the heat content of the refrigerant above the initial process heat.
