  • Patent number: 8802197
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing an article comprising an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) and an IPN comprising article e.g. obtainable by this method. The method comprises providing a polymer substrate e.g. shaped to provide the desired article and applying it in a reaction chamber, providing at least one monomer for an interpenetrating polymer, exposing said polymer substrate in said reaction chamber to said at least one monomer in the presence of an impregnation solvent comprising CO2 under conditions wherein said CO2 is in its liquid or supercritical state and polymerizing and optionally cross linking said at least one monomer to form an interpenetrating polymer in the presence of a polymerization solvent under conditions wherein at least a part of said at least one monomer is dissolved in said polymerization solvent.

  • Publication number: 20080292895
Abstract: The invention relates to polymer foil comprising at least one polymer layer coated with a barrier glass coating of an oxide composition, wherein said oxide composition comprises the element Si in the form of an oxide network, the oxide composition preferably comprises Si and at least one other element X in an oxide network. The oxide network may preferably be applied using plasma. The foil may be a multi-layered foil comprising a plurality of layers, at least one of the layers being a barrier glass coating. The foil has good barrier properties.

  • Publication number: 20080213460
Abstract: A method of coating a surface of a solid polymer substrate, e.g. comprising silicone, thermoplast, thermoset and/or elastomers, with a coating comprising a coat polymer. The method includes providing a coat polymer, such as a polymer polymer comprises one or more polymer having metacrylate backbone, for the coating, and dissolving said coat polymer in a first solvent, such as water, carbon dioxide and/or organic solvents, placing said solid polymer substrate in a reaction chamber introducing said polymer coat solution into the reaction chamber, introducing carbon dioxide into the reaction chamber, and depositing the coating onto the solid polymer substrate surface, wherein the carbon dioxide during at least a part of the deposition step is in its liquid state at a pressure of 7.4 Mpa or less. Optionally the carbon dioxide is subjected to turbulence, e.g. by mechanical stirring during at least a part of the deposition step.

  • Publication number: 20070216061
Abstract: A method of producing a silicone rubber item. The method includes the steps of i) shaping the silicone rubber item and ii) subjecting the shaped item to a cold curing, wherein the cold curing includes feeding the shaped item into a reactor, and subjecting the shaped item to an extraction treatment using carbon dioxide containing solvent at a pressure between 10 and 50 bars, wherein the item has an initial temperature below 60° C. in the extraction step, and in at least a part of the extraction time the item has a temperature below 25° C. and a pressure so that the carbon dioxide is in its liquid state.
