  • Publication number: 20040044576
Abstract: Document location information indicating a location of a document on a network is embedded in an image, which is included in an advertisement placed in a printed matter, by using an electronic watermark. The document includes detailed information about the advertisement. The electronic watermark is decoded with terminals TR used by readers R. The terminals TR access an information providing device SC based on the document location information included in the decoded information, and receive the document from the information providing device SC. An access totaling unit within the information providing device SC counts the number of accesses made from the terminals TR, whereby an effect of the advertisement is measured.

  • Patent number: 5386220
Abstract: A digital display value adjusting device reliably determines the direction of rotation of a manual input member through a simple calculation for adjusting a digital display value. A plurality of pulse strings are generated by a pulse generator in accordance with the rotation of the manual input member. Pulse state data are generated and temporarily stored for each of the pulse strings. Through a calculation, the change in the state of the pulses is determined using the currently generated pulse state data and the stored pulse state data. The direction of rotation of the input member is determined on the basis of the result of the calculation. The direction of rotation of the input member is determined only when a change in state of a first generated pulse string is successively followed by a change in state of another generated pulse string before another change in state of the first generated pulse string occurs.

  • Patent number: 5007033
Abstract: A world timepiece for normally displaying the time of a home city and for selectively displaying the time of another city situated in another time zone. The world timepiece includes a plurality of selector switches corresponding to main cities located in different time-lag zones into which the world is divided. A display unit normally displays the time of the user's home city and, upon actuation of one of the selector switches, the display unit displays the time of the selected city designated by the actuated selector switch. A city of an arbitrary time-lag zone can be stored in an assigned city storage circuit, and the time of the assigned city can be displayed by the display unit by actuating an optional switch.
