  • Patent number: 4176712
Abstract: There is provided an improved heating apparatus of the multiple condensing-vapor substantially air-free type used for uniformly heating moving threadlines of yarn up to 350.degree. C. and which includes a pressurized boiler containing a vaporizable liquid, means for heating the liquid in the boiler to generate hot vapor, means for distributing the hot vapor to the inside of multiple plates where the vapor condenses and thereby heats threadlines of yarn separately moved in frictional contact witn an outer yarn-contacting surface of each hot plate, and possibly means for returning the condensate to the boiler, wherein the improvement comprises having a coating on the inside surface of each said hot plate, said coating having a contact angle with said vaporizable liquid of at least 90.degree..
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 9, 1978
Date of Patent: December 4, 1979
    Assignee: Fiber Industries, Inc.
Inventors: Lee H. Knox, Malcolm P. Owens

  • Patent number: 4023742
Abstract: An improved apparatus for winding yarn or thread onto a bobbin to form a yarn package is described which comprises a support assembly for maintaining uniform pressure between the drive roll and yarn package during winding so that a yarn package having greater uniformity is produced. The described apparatus further includes an improved take-up roll having a braking means cooperating with a yarn package or bobbin release means, whereby the yarn package cannot be released from the take-up roll until the take-up roll has ceased rotation. Also described is a doffing mechanism associated with the winder for doffing yarn packages from the take-up roll after they are released by the package release means.
