  • Patent number: 5349376
Abstract: A printing apparatus that enhances light transmittance of overhead projector (OHP) sheets while preventing any deterioration in printing speed. The apparatus can compare a divider assembly located between a printing unit and a printed paper tray. The divider assembly feeds print media selectively to an OHP processing unit or to the printed paper tray. An OHP sheet printed in color is fed by the divider assembly to the OHP processing unit which prepares the sheet for OHP applications. An OHP sheet printed in monochrome is fed by the divider assembly to the printed paper tray without passage through the OHP processing unit.

  • Patent number: 5323176
Abstract: A printer enables discrimination of the kind of a printing medium and automatically controls whether the medium is to be thermally processed or not by the result of the discrimination, while enabling reversal of the execution or inexecution of the heating process if necessary. A control portion is able to discriminate the kind of a printing paper based on a signal output from a detector and changeover automatically, whether the printing paper is to be thermally processed or not, in moving a diverter from a first position to a second position by controlling a solenoid. A user can reverse the execution or inexecution of a heating process of a printed paper in operating the diverter by the operation of a reverse key provided in a control panel.

  • Patent number: 5255987
Abstract: A paper edge detecting device for a printing apparatus in which a paper margin of a print paper can be detected with high accuracy. A mark printing process is executed upon power-on of a printer, so that a carriage is displaced from an original position H0 to a position corresponding to a set pulse number H.sub.P and stopped at that position to print on the print paper a linear mark M aligned in a direction perpendicular to a displacement direction of the carriage. Thereafter, a mark detection process is executed, and the carriage is displaced from the original position H0 until the mark M is detected by the photosensor. Subsequently, a correction amount generating process is executed to calculate a correction value .alpha. on the basis of the set pulse number H.sub.P and the count value C.sub.P when the mark M is detected by the photosensor.

  • Patent number: 5223939
Abstract: Image data supplied from an external equipment is stored in an image data memory. The size of an outline region determined on the basis of the image data is compared with the size of the printable region of selected paper, stored in a size memory. If the outline region is larger, paper having a size larger than that of the selected paper is selected. Data of linear marks indicative of cut positions on the extension lines of virtual boundaries of the outline region is calculated on the basis of data of a pair of corners in the image data, to be synthesized with the image data supplied from the external equipment, for a print operation with respect to the print paper.

  • Patent number: 5200830
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus has a first operating mode in which first data entered through an interface from an external unit is received in precedence over second data entered through a modem from other facsimile apparatus over a communication line, and a second operating mode in which the second data is received in precedence over the first data, and is operative to receive and print data in accordance with the mode of priority order set on a switch. The apparatus is provided with two sheet delivery ports so that print paper (print sheet) on which the first data is printed and print paper (reception sheet) on which the second data is printed are delivered separately to the respective delivery ports. The apparatus allows the user to obtain a printed sheet of urgent data immediately, and also frees the user from hand separation of print sheets and reception sheets.

  • Patent number: 5007002
Abstract: A serial printer with a dot print head which prints print data produced in accordance with a page describing language. In this serial printer, it is judged whether or not character data is included in the print data and, if included, whether or not character data printable by the dot print head in a single scanning stroke exists in the character data previously judged, whereby the character data non-printable in a single scanning stroke of the head is printed similarly to graphic data included in the print data after being converted into image data, and the character data printable in a single scanning stroke of the head is printed independently of graphic data. Consequently, the character data can be printed without displacement of dots according to print ability of the dot print head and excellent print quality of the characters can be obtained.

Abstract: A drive control system for controlling a drive motor in response to external command signals. The system comprises a first control arrangement for obtaining numerical values corresponding to amounts of successive intermittent operations of the drive motor responsive to respective external command signals, summing the obtained numerical values, and subtracting from a current sum of the numerical values a numerical value corresponding to a non-operation time period during which the drive motor is held at rest between the successive intermittent operations. The system further comprises a second control arrangement for inhibiting the operation of the drive motor responsive to the next command signal, for a length of time corresponding to the current sum after the drive motor has completed each of the intermittent operations, whereby the temperature of the drive motor is kept below an upper limit.
