  • Patent number: 10966005
Abstract: A telemetry manager receives, from a network server, global data collection information about network components in an optical network device. The global data collection information includes identifiers for network nodes in the network components from which telemetry data are to be collected, and reporting frequency and encoding format for sending collected telemetry data to the network server. The telemetry manager identifies, from the global data collection information, local data collection information specified for a network component, and sends this information to a telemetry agent in the network component. The telemetry manager receives telemetry data generated by a network node of the network component, where the data is provided according to instructions in the local data collection information. The telemetry manager converts the telemetry data from its native format to an encoding format specified by the global data collection information, and sends the encoded telemetry data to the network server.

  • Patent number: 7957365
Abstract: A method and system for connection routing based on link utilization. A link utilization limit is accessed at a node of a network. The link utilization limit is compared to a utilization of a link coupled to the node. If the utilization of the link is greater than the link utilization limit, then the link is excluded from a virtual circuit.

  • Patent number: 7532574
Abstract: A method to assist in deciding whether or not an ATM PNNI network link is able to sustain a new connection is described. The method comprises, if the link is not within an LCN exhaustion state and the new connection requests more bandwidth than is advertised as being available upon the link for the new connection's service category, regarding the bandwidth available for the new connection as a sum. The sum comprises addition of: 1) the advertised available bandwidth and 2) the total bandwidth reserved on the link for connections having lower priority than the new connection enhanced by over-subscription for the service category.

  • Patent number: 7330437
Abstract: A method and system thereof for checking connectivity between endpoints in a network are described. A message is sent from an originating endpoint to a terminating endpoint. The message directs the terminating endpoint to enable detection of continuity check cells used for checking connectivity between the originating endpoint and the terminating endpoint. The terminating endpoint is programmed to suppress generation of continuity check cells. Continuity check cells are sent from the originating endpoint to the terminating endpoint. The originating endpoint is programmed to refrain from acting in response to an absence of continuity check cells from the terminating endpoint.
