Publication number: 20090301415Abstract: In a V-type engine in which first and second banks arranged in a V-shape are provided continuously to a crankcase, and in which a carburetor is placed at a valley between the first and second banks, the carburetor is placed spaced from the first and second banks. Further, the carburetor is connected to intake ports of the first and second banks via first and second intake pipes, respectively, and first and second heat shield plates each made of synthetic resin are attached to side faces of the respective first and second banks, the side faces facing the carburetor, each of the first and second heat shield plates covering a corresponding one of the side faces and defining a cooling air passage between the heat shield plate and the side face. Accordingly, it is possible to surely prevent heat from the banks from affecting the carburetor in order to prevent percolation in the carburetor even in the case where the engine stops its operation in a high-temperature state.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2009Publication date: December 10, 2009Applicant: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Kazuhisa OGAWA, Manabu HASHIMOTO

Publication number: 20080264361Abstract: In a V-type engine, intake and exhaust rocker arms in each bank are arranged in a substantially inverted-V-shape in a plan view, so that side end portions of corresponding intake and exhaust push rods are positioned adjacent to each other. Slipper portions of first and second intake cam followers have end portions at one end along the axial direction of a camshaft protrude respectively in opposite directions to each other so that they face each other across an intake cam therebetween. Slipper portions of first and second exhaust cam followers have end portions at one end along the axial direction of the camshaft protrude respectively in opposite directions to each other so that they face each other across an exhaust cam therebetween. This reduces the distance between the push rods in each bank to provide a compact valve-operating device.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2008Publication date: October 30, 2008Applicant: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Manabu Hashimoto, Keita Ito

Patent number: 7079669Abstract: An image processing apparatus detecting a wheelchair passenger for an elevator. This image processing apparatus includes a TV camera installed so that a hail where passengers are waiting is monitored through the camera, which is located in the vicinity of the elevator door, a face area extraction unit, a wheelchair area estimation unit, and a wheelchair existence judgment unit. The image processing apparatus is operated in the following manner, one or a several passengers' face area is identified by the face area extraction unit in the image picked-up by the TV camera, and the position of the face area in the image is detected. If the passenger is sitting in a wheelchair, the area where the wheelchair is likely to be in the image is estimated by the wheelchair area estimation unit from the position of the face area. The estimated area where the wheelchair is likely to be is checked by the wheelchair existence judgment unit, to determine whether the wheelchair is present.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2000Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Manabu Hashimoto, Kazuhiko Sumi

Patent number: 6649904Abstract: A subject-state detecting apparatus has an active distance measuring sensor including projectors for targeting measurement regions independently, and a photodetector for detecting reflection light reflected from a subject that receives light projected by the light projectors. A measurement parameter decision section decides in advance a body parameter to be measured. In response to the parameter, a distance measuring sensor setting section sets a measurement region of the active distance measuring sensor and an additional distance measuring sensor. A state decision section decides state of the subject from the outputs of these sensors.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2002Date of Patent: November 18, 2003Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kentaro Hayashi, Manabu Hashimoto, Kazuhiko Sumi

Patent number: 6639498Abstract: In an individual ignition type ignition coil for use in an internal combustion engine in which a center core 1, a secondary coil 3 wound on a secondary bobbin 2 and a secondary coil 5 wound on a primary bobbin 4 are installed concentrically from an inner side of a coil case 6 in order. Among these interior constituting members, insulation resins 17 and 8 are filled up. Each of the primary bobbin 4 and the secondary bobbin 2 is made of a synthetic resin and at least a skin layer on an inner surface of the primary bobbin 4 and a skin layer on an outer surface of the secondary bobbin 2 are removed, and to the surfaces of the bobbins, the insulation resin 8 is adhered closely. By heightening a close adhesion strength (a bonding strength) of a bobbin and an insulation resin in an individual ignition type ignition coil, an anti-heat shock is improved and an insulation performance of the coil is attained.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2001Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Inventors: Junichi Shimada, Manabu Hashimoto, Katsuhiko Yasu, Hiroyuki Tanaka, Nobuhiko Ishida

Patent number: 6441808Abstract: A free key layout setting apparatus is mounted in a data input apparatus. The data input apparatus includes a display unit covered with a touch panel. A plurality of keys are laid out and displayed on a display screen of the display unit according to layout data prestored in a ROM or a RAM. When an arbitrary key is touched through the touch panel in the display screen, a CPU of the data input apparatus carries out a function corresponding to that key. In setting the layout data to lay out each of the plurality of keys at an arbitrary position in the display screen in the free key layout setting apparatus, the CPU generates layout data as desired by the user including various data such as the size for display, the display position, a code identifying the type of the function of the ECR executed by operation of a key, and a character string of a label displayed on a key. The layout data is stored in the ROM or the RAM.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1999Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Manabu Hashimoto
