  • Patent number: 6033800
Abstract: A battery container for containing battery elements includes large thickness sections formed on the outer rims of walls that compose the container and small thickness areas formed in the areas surrounded by the large thickness sections. A spacer that is formed of straight-line ribs, a combination of latticed ribs and projections, cylindrical projections or the like is disposed on the small thickness areas and the outer surface of the spacing means protruded out of the outer surfaces of the large thickness sections, thereby ensuring the mechanical strength and durability of the container and at the same time allowing cooling air to circulate efficiently along the walls of the battery envelope. This facilitates the transfer of heat produced inside of the battery to the outside.

  • Patent number: 5681197
Abstract: A method for fixing to a frame an electrode or a shadow mask for an image receiving tube. The method includes steps for stretching, in opposite directions, supporting ends of a rectangular mask plate having apertures formed between the supporting ends, in order to generate a tensile force having a uniform distribution over the entire surface of the plate. The method also includes pressing inwardly and bending a pair of elastic supporting elements, constituting two confronting sides of a frame, so that a distribution of the pressing force in a direction of each of the sides almost balances with a distribution of the tensile force. The supporting ends of the mask plate are then rigidly fixed to both of the bent supporting elements of the frame. The stretching and pressing forces applied to the mask plate and the frame are then released.

  • Patent number: 5663008
Abstract: In the module battery, by disposing end plates including a flat plate portion and a rectangular frame portion at each end of a cell group and by binding the cell group by means of binding members and metal studs, the increase of the internal pressure during the charging/discharging cycles and the dimensional change of the module battery due to the expansion of the cell group can be suppressed, while the weight and volume increase caused by the binding members is minimized.

  • Patent number: 5634838
Abstract: A color selecting electrode for a color-picture tube, includes a rectangular frame-shaped frame having a pair of mutually-opposite long sides and a pair of mutually-opposite short sides, and a mask plate which is stretchedly supported on top surfaces of the frame while receiving a resilient spring force exerted from the frame, the long sides having a greater section modulus and a greater rigidity than the short sides. A method of manufacturing the color selecting electrode includes the step of welding, to the frame pressed inward by an equally-distributed force applied to the pair of long sides and the pair of short sides, the mask plate of which four sides are stretched outward by a distributed force which approximately counterbalances the equally distributed force.
