  • Patent number: 5105781
Abstract: An air-compressing internal combustion engine with oblique injection into an antechamber having a sphere-like combustion space and conduit of arranged offset relative to one another. A spheroid impact head with a cup shaped recess on the underside thereof facing the conduit is provided in the lower half of the combustion space. A glow plug is arranged in the downward current of the air flow downstream of the injection nozzle in the antechamber.

  • Patent number: 4956973
Abstract: The invention relates to a super-charged fuel-injected internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas driven turbocharger and exhaust gas recycling. To increase the volume of recycled exhaust gases by means of an increase in the pressure drop between the pressure in the exhaust gas line upstream of the turbine and the pressure in the engine charging air line downstream of the compressor, a pressure control valve is provided in either the exhaust line downstream of the turbine or at the compressed air line of a bypass line bridging the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4836161
Abstract: The invention relates to a direct fuel injection method for a diesel engine in which a preset quantity of fuel is introduced into a combustion space via a fuel injection nozzle in a preinjection and in a main injection which is separate from the preinjection. To achieve a short ignition delay with lowest possible specific fuel consumption during this process, the beginning of the preinjection occurs within the range of 10.degree.-16.degree. or of 20.degree.-30.degree. crank angle before top dead center, depending on speed, and the beginning of the main injection occurs within the range of 2.degree. after top dead center to 15.degree. before top dead center, the interval between the end of the preinjection and the beginning of the main injection being within the range of 3.degree. to 14.degree. or of 3.degree. to 26.degree. crank angle before top dead center and the preinjection quantity is 10% to 20% or 1% to 5% of the quantity of fuel preset in each case, depending on load.

  • Patent number: 4773225
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the load-dependent control of a turbocharger which is arranged in an internal combustion engine, a turbocharger includes an adjustable turbine guide apparatus which is adapted to be moved by way of an adjusting drive in the direction closing position or in the direction opening position. In order to be able to keep the response time of the turbocharger minimal during positive load changes with an optimum fuel consumption, the turbine guide apparatus is initially guided along a first predetermined characteristic curve in the direction closing position and subsequently in dependence on the charging pressure increase conditioned on the load increase according to a second predetermined characteristic curve again in the opening direction.

  • Patent number: 4591101
Abstract: The invention relates to a throttling-pintle nozzle for fuel injection in an internal-combustion engine, with a nozzle needle which lifts off from its needle seat under the pressure of the injected fuel counter to the direction of flow of the fuel. The throttling pintle of which is located within the spray hole in the closing position of the nozzle needle. To prevent an unduly sharp variation in the injection rate from occurring as a result of coking residues in the spray hole, the pintle is provided with a special flattened portion which is arranged obliquely relative to the center axis of the pintle, so that with an increasing stroke of the needle in the opening direction an increase in the passage cross-section represented by an oblique flattened portion takes place.

  • Patent number: 4531493
Abstract: An injection internal combustion engine with supercharging by an exhaust gas turbocharger, in which a by-pass control limits the maximum supercharging pressure and in which upon exceeding a predetermined critical maximum pressure a clearly noticeable indication thereof is given to the driver.
