  • Patent number: 4922779
Abstract: Slitting shears for sheets and strips of metal. The shears include knife rollers which support circular knives and are adjustable for adjusting the overlap of the knives. The gaps between the knives are adjustable by means of spacer sleeves arranged on the rolls between the circular knives. The slitting shears further include a bending control unit for the knife rollers for keeping constant the adjusted knife overlap and knife gaps. The bending control unit makes it possible to prevent positional changes of the cutting edges of the circular knives under load, so that cut edges without burrs can always be produced independently of the cutting forces. Bending of the knife rollers can be compensated in a controlled manner by sensing the bending of a knife roller.

  • Patent number: 4862570
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for removing scale from a hot rolled steel strip by rolls acting by grinding and/or milling so that these rolls are uniformly effective in all regions of the steel strip and an appropriate uniform removal of the scale layer occurs. This is attained when driven grinding rolls adjustable toward the surfaces of the steel strip are provided of which at least two opposing rolls are axially slidable in opposite directions and have inversely oriented S-shape contours. These contours complement each other completely flawlessly in one definite position of the grinding rolls. In one such position the rolls provide a uniform engagement on both sides of a steel strip with a nearly rectangular profile.

  • Patent number: 4831854
Abstract: The rolling mill for mechanical descaling of hot rolled steel is constructed according to the slidable roll process with reducing rolls so that a unform operation with different and/or changing shape steel strips can obtained. This is attained when the rolling mill has at least two rolls slidable in opposite directions whose body surfaces are constructed with S-shape contours positioned inversely to each other so that these contours compliment each other flawlessly in one certain axial relative position. When sliding the rolls in opposite directions in one case the contour is decreased in the center region of the steel strip and when slid in the opposite directions in the other case the contour is increased in the center region. Thus the rolls can be adjusted to fit a gently convex steel strip profile by axially sliding the rolls in opposite directions as also rolled strips with a thickness centrally reduced in comparison to that of the edge regions can by appropriate sliding of the rolls opposite each other.

  • Patent number: 4614142
Abstract: Circular cutter shears are provided with an upper circular cutter shaft inclined towards the surface of the plate and a horizontally mounted lower circular cutter shaft. In order to prevent narrowing of the cutter clearance and jamming in the cutting engagement, the inclined upper circular cutter shaft is swung, with its end remote from the cutter, by an offset angle .beta. opposite the direction of feed of the plate.

  • Patent number: 4038254
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of wire insulation varnish resins suitable for application from the melted state which comprises:1. Contacting a lower alkyl ester of terephthalic acid with tris-(hydroxyethyl)-isocyanurate and ethylene glycol in the presence of a trans esterification catalyst in the presence of 0.3 to 1.5% of an alcoholate of titanium, vanadium or zirconium and effecting transesterification under transesterification conditions;2. Contacting the transesterification product from step 1 with trimellitic acid anhydride under esterification conditions to further effect esterification, but prior to completion of such esterification;3. Adding to the reaction mixture 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl methane in an amount such that the molar ratio of trimellitic acid derived from trimellitic acid anhydride to said 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane is 2 to 1; and4. Polycondensing the reaction mixture until a resin is formed having a consistency at 140.degree. to 160.degree.
