  • Publication number: 20100279903
Abstract: Polymeric salts, lubricant compositions comprising the polymeric salts and processes for producing such polymeric salts. More specifically, low viscosity lubricants for the working surface of an extrusion die during the processing of plastics that require lubricants to render them processable, such as polyvinyl chloride, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride and copolymers thereof. A metal base is reacted with acid functional groups formed during oxidation of a wax, thereby forming a polymeric salt, neutralizing the wax and saponifying saponifiable functional groups.

  • Patent number: 6231656
Abstract: The invention provides improved release agents used in processes for preparing molded lignocellulosic articles. The release agents are preferably applied as an emulsion in processes for preparing molded articles such as oriented strand board, waferboard or plywood. The release agents contain a co-oxidized blend of a first wax and a second wax, wherein the first wax has a Brookfield viscosity which is at least about 150 mPas at 140° C. and the second wax has a Brookfield viscosity which is less than about 100 mPas at 140° C.

  • Patent number: 6096822
Abstract: The invention provides low molecular weight polyesters and polyamides useful for flushing wet pigments and manufacturing color concentrates. More specifically, the compositions of the invention are effective for flushing wet pigments, producing pigment dispersions and then producing colored polymers with the pigment dispersions.

  • Patent number: 5196475
Abstract: The ionomer salt of low molecular weight copolymer reaction product of a copolymer acid of an .alpha.-olefin and an unsaturated carboxylic acid, and at least one amino acid compound, and a cation containing material. The unsaturated carboxylic acid is preferably an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid. The present invention includes a method of preparing the ionomer. The ionomer has excellent compatibility with other polymers, particularly polyamides. The ionomer is useful in a method to flush water from pigments.

  • Patent number: 4177336
Abstract: Terpolymers of a lower olefin, a vinyl ester and a 2-ene-carboxylic acid are reacted with water at elevated temperatures to produce a polyolefin containing multiple olefinic unsaturation and carboxylic acid groups. Ester groups are converted to olefinic unsaturations by elimination of acid such as acetic acid. The carboxylic acid groups give the product polymer emulsifiability in water, while the double bonds cause the polymer to be sensitive to ultraviolet light and suitable as chemical intermediates for further reaction at the sites of the double bond.

  • Patent number: 4124753
Abstract: In the production of ethylene polymer and copolymer telomer waxes by vapor phase polymerization at elevated temperatures and pressures in the presence of a free radical initiator, improved production rates of more linear wax products with reduced reactor fouling are obtained by carrying out the reaction at about 140.degree. C and utilizing 2-t-butylazo-2-cyanobutane as an initiator.
