  • Patent number: 5594197
Abstract: The present invention relates to a secondary projectile for a tandem warhead including a forwardly located active charge, a rearwardly located active charge and a fuze which is arranged therebetween, and whose triggering direction is oriented towards the forwardly located active charge, whereby the transmission of the ignition or triggering is implemented forwardly through the intermediary of a booster charge and towards the rear through the use of a cross-triggering device. The booster charge which is triggered by the fuze consists of an explosive material and lies directly against the forwardly located active charge, and wherein the booster charge at the other side thereof is separated by thin cross-ignitable wall segments of a housing of the cross-triggering device from at least two tongue-shaped explosive material poles of the rearwardly located active charge.

  • Patent number: 5565648
Abstract: A fragmentation casing for a secondary projectile of a tandem warhead which includes a forwardly located active charge, a rearwardly located active charge and a fuze arranged between the charges. The secondary projectile possesses on both sides thereof a generally ovoid, thick-walled and uniformly thick nose cone with a heavy wall thickness and with an inwardly located separate fragment charge; a one-sided overhung fastening of a fuze through a collar extending between two housing parts of the secondary projectile, whereby the fuze is almost completely and; in essence, also around the periphery thereof, embedded in the explosive of the rearwardly located active charge, and with a gapless arrangement of the interconnected active charges, the casing, the prefinished fragments and the nose cones.

  • Patent number: 5561261
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tandem warhead with a secondary projectile. An explosives gas protector shields the secondary projectile with respect to a hollow charge located in front of the secondary projectile, and wherein the housing possesses a conical section having a tubular segment of smaller diameter arranged thereon, whereby a bottom is provided on the tubular section which opposite the hollow charge has the secondary projectile smaller in caliber and at its circumference includes a screwthread into which there engages a screwthread of the tubular section, and whereby the secondary projectile contacts against the bottom under prestressing.

  • Patent number: 5168122
Abstract: A safe-and-arm device with a series connection formed through a switch which is activated through triggering criteria and which is connected ahead of a detonator for a secondary explosive, especially for utilization with a submunition projectile. Hereby, a switching element of a first switch is arranged on a first carrier or support for the switching element which is slidable from its blocked secured or safe position through the intermediary of a power element which is initiated by a releasing criterium into armed position, and a switching element of a second switch is arranged on a support for this switching element which is coupled with the support of the first switching element and displaceable by the latter from its safe position across an interim position into its armed position in the presence of a further releasing criterium.

  • Patent number: 4727810
Abstract: A safe and arm device including a sensor-controlled switch arrangement in an electrical series-circuit, which is arranged ahead of a secondary-explosive detonator, especially for a submunition-projectile. The safe and arm device possesses a first switch which is actuatable at the presence of a surrounding air onflow against the submunition carrier in dependence upon a submunition ejecting command; and wherein a second switch is actuatable by the first switch when the submunition-projectile has released itself from its carrier and has implemented a transition into a gliding flight phase searching for a target.
