  • Patent number: 8791826
Abstract: A method for fire detection in enclosed environments (1) subject to explosion protection regulations out of which an air-dust mixture is filtered while the concentration of dust of the air-dust mixture is lowered to under the explosion limit by a filter (2) and the aspirated air-dust mixture is checked for burning characteristics and if appropriate a fire alarm is triggered, in which the function of the filter (2) is monitored, the fire detection is carried out by use of an aspirating smoke detector system (7) not approved for use in potentially explosive areas but instead is deployed outside the ex-zone and if the filter (2) is destroyed a signal processing unit (15, 15.1) of a malfunction monitoring sensor (14) generates a signal which initiates a subsequent action preventing aspirated air-dust mixture with an elevated concentration of dust from entering the aspirating smoke detector system (7).

  • Publication number: 20100265510
Abstract: A device for detecting and reporting fire phenomena, particularly sparks in a gas stream that might be charged with solid particles and flows through a conveyance line uses a displacement body that extends longitudinally in the flow direction of the conveyance line. The displacement body is disposed on a shaft, and a deflector is disposed at one end of the displacement body, in front of a light-permeable ring, in the interior of which a reflector is disposed. By way of an adjustable mirror at the other end in the interior of the displacement body, a signal is reflected into the interior of the shaft. The device also includes an optical reception unit and an evaluation unit at the end of the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20050128098
Abstract: A device for detecting an onset of a fire includes a detector for recognizing a fire parameter, at least one feed line having a suction opening, a fan that feeds air to the detector via the feed line, and a rubber-elastic part including a film disposed across an inside portion and defining a film opening having a smaller diameter than a diameter of the suction opening. The rubber-elastic part os disposed against the feed line in a gas-tight manner. In addition, a method for cleaning the device including blowing a gas stream from an inside of the film to an outside of the film through the film opening.

  • Patent number: 6173790
Abstract: A process and a device for atomization of a liquid extinguishing medium, in which the liquid extinguishing medium and a liquid inert gas are mixed in a mixing unit to form a liquid extinguishing medium mixture. The mixture is conveyed through a conduit to a distributing device such as extinguishing nozzles. As the mixture exits the distributing device the mixture is atomized, forming an aerosol spray for extinguishing a fire within an extinguishing area defined by the aerosol spray. A detector arranged in the extinguishing area for detection of parameters relating to extinguishing of the fire is connected to an evaluation device which in turn is connected to a control valve. The control valve regulates the quantity of liquid inert gas supplied to the mixing unit.

  • Patent number: 6044910
Abstract: A device for introducing CO.sub.2 into a preferably liquid extinguishing medium includes a housing (1) with a feed line (2) for extinguishing fluid, a feed pipe (4), provided with a metering valve (3), for CO.sub.2, as well as an outlet line (5). The housing (1) is aligned with its longitudinal axis vertical; the feed line (2) for extinguishing fluid is connected to the housing at the lower end thereof; the outlet line (5) branches off from the upper end of the housing. The CO.sub.2 feed pipe (4) opens into the housing from above, extends as far as the lower end thereof and is provided at the pipe end with injection fluid (6). The CO.sub.2 is directed in the feed pipe in the opposite flow direction to the extinguishing fluid; the length of the feed pipe between the metering valve (3) and injection fluid (6) is dimensioned such that during operation with the metering valve (3) closed a gas cushion (7) forms on its downstream side.
