Patents by Inventor MANIKANDAN RAMASUBRAMANIAN

MANIKANDAN RAMASUBRAMANIAN has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 9891954
Abstract: Techniques for managing computing resources in a cluster are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes identifying a virtual machine requiring additional memory. The virtual machine runs on a first host computing system. Further, the method includes determining that the virtual machine does not need additional central processing unit (CPU) resources. Furthermore, the method includes identifying at least one other host computing system having the required additional memory and allocating the required additional memory available in the at least one other host computing system to the virtual machine using a connection to each host computing system having the required additional memory.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 21, 2015
Date of Patent: February 13, 2018
    Assignee: VMWARE, INC.
    Inventors: Jinto Antony, Manikandan Ramasubramanian
  • Patent number: 9712610
Abstract: System and method for increasing physical memory page sharing by workloads executing on different host computing systems are described. In one embodiment, workloads executing on different host computing systems that access physical memory pages having identical contents are identified. Further, migration to consolidate the identified workloads on a single host computing system such that the physical memory pages can be shared using a page sharing mechanism is recommended.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 1, 2013
Date of Patent: July 18, 2017
    Assignee: VMware, Inc.
    Inventor: Manikandan Ramasubramanian
  • Patent number: 9619270
Abstract: The current document is directed to methods and systems for moving executing virtual machines between host systems in a virtual data center. In described implementations, remote-direct memory access is used for transferring memory contents and, in certain implementations, additional data between the host systems to facilitate live migration of virtual machines. To provide increased efficiency, transfer of the contents of a shared memory page from a source host system to target host system during migration of a virtual machine is deferred until the relocated virtual machine attempts to write to the shared memory page.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 2015
Date of Patent: April 11, 2017
    Assignee: VMware, Inc.
    Inventors: Manikandan Ramasubramanian, Mukheem Ahmed
