  • Publication number: 20180258335
Abstract: Methods and compositions regarding borate, cross-linking suspensions are disclosed that may include one or more non-clay suspending agents, at least 30 wt. % of one or more boron-containing minerals, and a water-based solvent. In additional embodiments, the suspensions may include one or more polyols, one or more additives, or both, wherein the additives, for example, may include stabilizing agents, dispersing agents, surfactants, wetting agents, anti-gelling agents, pour-point depressants, or combinations thereof. Turning to a different aspect of this disclosure are methods that may include mixing one or more non-clay suspending agents in a water-based solvent and adding, subsequent to this mixing, at least 30 wt. % of one or more boron-containing minerals. In other embodiments, example methods may also include adding one or more additives prior to adding at least 30 wt. % of one or more boron-containing minerals.

  • Publication number: 20170044419
Abstract: Methods and compositions for a suspending-agent free suspension may include one or more solids having at least 30 wt % of the suspending-agent free suspension being suspended in one or more oils. The one or more solids may be, for example, proppants, oxidizers, reducers, gums, starches, minerals, resins, and/or polymers, and the foregoing one or more solids may exist in various forms, including, for example, gelatinous, encapsulated, powder, crystalline, fine, course, natural, flake, or combinations el thereof. The one or more oils may be natural, synthetic, or combinations of both natural and synthetic oils. The one or more oils may or be free from benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene, i.e., BTEX-free. The one or more oils may also include one or more viscosified oils through the addition of comprise one or more polymers. The suspending-agent free suspension may include one or more surfactants.

  • Publication number: 20030054963
Abstract: A method of treating a subterranean formation using a well-treating fluid is provided, the subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore, the method comprising preparing the well-treating fluid by admixing a fast-hydrating high-viscosity guar powder to a hydrating liquid to prepare the well-treating fluid; hydrating the guar powder; admixing a cross-linker to the well-treating fluid; and introducing the well-treating fluid to the wellbore at a temperature and a pressure sufficient to treat the subterranean formation. A product is also provided comprising a well-treating fluid for use in treating subterranean formations with the well-treating fluid comprising a hydrating liquid; a gelling agent, the gelling agent comprising a fast-hydrating high-viscosity guar powder; and a cross-linker.

  • Publication number: 20030017952
Abstract: A method, and a product of such method, in which the manufacture of guar gum powder includes the additional step of extruding hydrated and flaked guar splits prior to grinding and drying. The extruding step may be included before or after the step of flaking the splits. The inclusion of the extruding step, along with the flaking step, has been found to create a guar gum powder product which has advantageous properties over the prior art. These advantageous properties include (1) increasing the hydration rate and the hydration acceleration rate of the guar gum powder without any corresponding change in particle size, and (2) providing a hydration acceleration rate that is less affected by cold temperatures.
