The adaptor includes a neck on one end which may be extended into the wellhead side-outlet for creating a fluid seal between the neck and an inner surface of the wellhead side-outlet. A flange at the one end is configured to receive a gasket for creating a separate fluid seal between the adaptor and an outer surface of the wellhead side-outlet. The adaptor includes a valve removal plug profile at an opposite end to accommodate installation of a valve removal plug. The adaptor also includes a test port for pressure testing the connection between the adaptor and the wellhead side-outlet in order to confirm the integrity of the fluid seal(s) formed there between.

Abstract: A method of installing a mechanical barrier in a wellhead includes receiving a false bowl within a bowl of a casing head housing of the wellhead, generating a first sealed interface between the false bowl and the bowl with one or more first seals arranged about an exterior of the false bowl, receiving a plug within the false bowl, generating a second sealed interface between the plug and the false bowl with one or more second seals arranged about an exterior of the plug, and receiving a back-pressure valve within the plug.

Abstract: A wellhead impression tool includes an elongate central body having opposing upper and lower ends, and defining an inner chamber, an impression sleeve arranged concentric with the central body and made of a malleable material, and a hydraulic assembly extending between the impression sleeve and the central body and in fluid communication with the inner chamber to receive a hydraulic fluid from the inner chamber. The hydraulic assembly is operable to force the impression sleeve radially outward and into engagement with a bowl of a wellhead spool of a wellhead assembly, and forcing the impression sleeve against the bowl results in a physical impression of the bowl on an outer surface of the impression sleeve.

The method further includes raising the bowl protector assembly out of the wellhead and replacing the damaged removable upper module with an undamaged removable upper module. The method further includes lowering the bowl protector assembly comprising the undamaged removable upper module with the running and retrieving tool into the wellhead and placing the bowl protector assembly on a load shoulder within the wellhead.
