    Abstract: Described herein is a MPEG-2 compatible stereoscopic 3D-video image digital decoding method and system. In order to obtain 3D-images from a digital video stream, modifications are made to the current MPEG2 decoders, by means of software and hardware changes in different parts of the decoding process. Namely, the video_sequence structures of the video data stream are modified via software to include the necessary flags at the bit level of the image type in the TDVisionĀ® technology. Modifications are also made in the decoding processes as well as in decoding the information via software and hardware, wherein a double output buffer is activated, a parallel and difference decoding selector is activated, the decompression process is executed, the corresponding output buffer is displayed; and the decoder is programmed via software to simultaneously receive and decode two independent program streams, each with an TDVisionĀ® stereoscopic identifier.

    Abstract: A 3D videogame system capable of displaying a left-right sequences through a different, independent VGA or video channel, with a display device sharing a memory in an immerse manner. The system has a videogame engine controlling and validating the image perspectives, assigning textures, lighting, positions, movements and aspects associated with each object participating in the game; creates left and right backbuffers, creates images and presents the information in the frontbuffers. The system allows handling the information of data associated to the xyz coordinates of the object's image in real-time, increases the RAM for the left-right backbuffer, with the possibility to discriminate and take the corresponding backbuffer, whose information is sent to the frontbuffer or additional independent display device sharing a memory in an immerse manner.

    Abstract: This invention refers to a method and a device for capturing, transmitting, and displaying three-dimension video images of a scene; said device comprises a stereoscopic video camera that captures, encodes, amplifies, and modulates the captured image signal; a dual receiver-decoder that simultaneously processes the two independent signals carried by two different channels; a viewer with two liquid crystal displays on which the scene images carried by the independent channels are displayed; the left channel being displayed on the left display, and the right channel being displayed on the right display. For transmitting and receiving the two-dimension signals, this method and this device may use analog or digital technology, and the existing infrastructure as well. The principle consists in taking two images, left and right, which are treated individually, with no mixing between them, and which are sent by two independent TV channels having their own receiver and viewing display.
