  • Publication number: 20130329363
Abstract: Provided herein is an electronic display assembly for use with a housing as well as a method for assembling an electronic display assembly within a housing. The assembly preferably contains an electronic display module having an electronic display secured within a mounting frame having a top and bottom surface. Top brackets and bottom brackets may be secured to the mounting frame and then secured to the interior of the housing. A front glass assembly can also be secured to the brackets. In some embodiments the housing may contain interior hangers which correspond to hangers that are fastened to the mounting frame of the electronic display module.

  • Publication number: 20130270975
Abstract: An in-field replaceable glass assembly for an electronic display placed within a housing is disclosed. The housing preferably contains a hanger at the top of the housing, where the glass assembly contains a frame surrounding a pane of glass and having a top and bottom. A tab is preferably placed at the top of the frame and adapted to hold the glass assembly in place when slipped over the hanger on the housing. The glass assembly also contains a means for attaching the bottom of the frame to the housing. In some embodiments this means is a threaded post which extends from the frame and passing through a portion of the housing. A nut may be tightened against the post. In other embodiments a threaded fastener may pass through the housing and thread into a female threaded hole within the frame.

  • Publication number: 20130208200
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system for controlling the interactions of light between adjacent subsections of a dynamic LED backlight. Preferred embodiments contain a dividing wall positioned between each adjacent subsection of the LED backlight. The dividing wall may be in contact with the LED backlight and extend away from the LED backlight. The dividing wall may prohibit light from a first subsection from entering an adjacent second subsection at its full luminance. The luminance for each adjacent subsection may be approximately half of the full luminance of each subsection, when measured at the location of the dividing wall.

  • Publication number: 20130170140
Abstract: A system for cooling an electronic display where an isolating structure may be used to allow ambient air to cool power modules. The isolating structure substantially prohibits contaminants which may be present within the ambient air from contacting sensitive electrical components on the power modules or otherwise. A gasket may be used to seal the interface between the power modules and the isolating structure. Heat sinks may be placed in thermal communication with the power supplies and fans may draw air through a narrow channel in which the heat sinks are located. In some embodiments the narrow channel may have the opposing surface of the channel defined by the rear portion of an LED assembly. Exemplary embodiments may use the ambient air to cool both the power modules and a closed loop of isolated gas within the electronic display.

  • Publication number: 20130170139
Abstract: A system and method for cooling an electronic image assembly having a plurality of cooling gas pathways place behind the electronic image assembly. A first fan may be used to force cooling gas through a first grouping of cooling gas pathways while a second fan may be used to force cooling gas through a second grouping of cooling gas pathways. Temperature sensing devices may be positioned so as to measure the temperature of the first and second groupings of cooling gas pathways. The speeds of the first and second fans may be adjusted based on the temperature measurements of the cooling gas pathway groupings. Additional fans with additional temperature sensing devices may be used for further accuracy and control over the temperature gradients of the electronic image assembly. Manifolds may be used to distribute/collect cooling gas to/from the cooling gas pathways.
