  • Publication number: 20240110348
Abstract: A barrier for a roadway (e.g., a highway, bridge, or other road), which can be used to manage vehicular traffic, such as to establish lanes, protect motorists and other people (e.g., pedestrians, constructions workers, etc.) against crashes or other impacts, and/or other purposes, and which may be configured to enhance its use and performance, such as by better protecting the motorists and others when impacted by vehicles (e.g., reducing deflection by deflecting less or substantially not deflecting and/or otherwise improving protection provided by the barrier), facilitating transportation, installation, removal, and/or transfer of the barrier at the roadway, and/or enhancing other aspects of the barrier. For example, the barrier may be designed to protect against (e.g., prevent or reduce) deformation, breakage and/or other deterioration of interfaces (e.g., connections and/or interfacing material) of components of the barrier that may move relative to one another (e.g., when impacted by vehicles).

  • Patent number: 10569156
Abstract: A safety component for a skating rink. The safety component comprises a body portion connectable to a transparent barrier located above dasher boards of the skating rink, wherein upon impact the body portion is capable of at least partially absorbing impact forces. The safety component further comprises a curved rink-facing surface that provides a substantially convex curved surface facing the skating rink. The curved rink-facing surface has a radius of curvature suitable for redirecting the impact forces away from the convex curved surface.

  • Publication number: 20110199231
Abstract: A method and system for managing traffic via a plurality of traffic signs positioned sequentially along a stretch of roadway. Each traffic sign in the plurality of traffic signs is capable of displaying more than one different traffic message. The method comprises receiving at a first traffic sign in the plurality of traffic signs a wireless control signal indicative that the plurality of traffic signs are to display a new message, and then causing each traffic sign in the plurality of traffic signs to display a new traffic message. The new traffic messages displayed by the plurality of traffic signs provide information relating to a roadway condition downstream of at least the front-most traffic sign in the plurality of traffic signs.

  • Patent number: 7098807
Abstract: The present invention provides a traffic-signalling device suitable for providing information to oncoming traffic. The traffic-signalling device comprises a moveable member suitable for attachment to a support and a solar powered drive system. The moveable member is operative to move between a first position and a second position, wherein in the second position the traffic-signalling device is operative to provide information to oncoming traffic. The solar-powered drive system is suitable for causing the moveable member to move between the first position and the second position.
