  • Patent number: 5587283
Abstract: In a combustion process permitting reducing the production NO.sub.x, there is ejected via a burner (1) at least one flow of combustible gas, at least one flow of an oxygenated gas supporting combustion and at least one flow (10) of one of these gases in liquid phase. In an oxyburner, one portion (between 13 and 35%) of the oxygen is injected in liquid phase. In an aeroburner for natural gas, one portion (10 to 30%) of this latter is ejected in a coherent liquid jet. Use particularly in glass furnaces and heaters.

  • Patent number: 5538534
Abstract: The combined installation comprises at least one metal production unit (II), including at least one, and typically a series of metal production or treatment units (1-6), and at least one air gas separation unit (III) including at least one outlet for at least one air gas (14-18), the units being supplied with compressed air with a low water vapor content by a common compressed air production unit (I), and with at least one of the gas outlets (14-18) from the separation unit (III) connected to at least one of the devices (1-6) of the production unit, to supply the latter with gas.

  • Patent number: 5522916
Abstract: A high-speed jet of liquid oxygen (21) with a speed higher than 100 meters per second is delivered into the tuyeres of a blast furnace of cupola furnace together with pulverised carbon. The jet reaches the opposite wall of the cavity (9) formed at the outlet of the tuyere (6) in the mass of material contained in the shaft. Supplying oxygen to the bottom of the cavity improves the burning of the remaining coal, whereby higher injection levels may be achieved. The shape of the cavity may also be altered, and, in particular, faster reactions may be achieved in the axial region of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5412183
Abstract: The product (11) is in relative motion in the direction (12) of its axis with respect to at least one magnetic inductor (10, 10'). The metallurgical product (11) is subjected to at least two magnetic fluxes (19, 19') having non-parallel directions which are transverse with respect to the longitudinal direction of the product (11). The heating device may advantageously consist of two C-shaped magnetic yokes (14, 14') spaced apart and angularly offset along the axial direction (12) of advance of the product (11).

  • Patent number: 4960967
Abstract: The device for protecting the poles of an electromagnetic inductor comprises a heat exchanger formed by one or more co-planar metal tubes (6) designed to allow the circulation of a cooling fluid therein and of such an arrangement that there is at most one electrical junction between any two tubes or tube elements. The exchanger is fastened to a rigid electrically insulating support plate (5) coated with refractory concrete (10) and covers the entire polar surface as far as the cowls (3). The exchanger can be shaped in the form of a series of alternating hairpins or in the form of a spiral with one or more branches. The device serves especially for protecting the poles of inductors used for the induction heating of metal products.
