  • Patent number: 6690853
Abstract: A tunable demultiplexer accepts an input optical signal that has multiple spectral bands and provides multiple output signals. Each of the output signals corresponds to a selected one of the spectral bands. The tunable demultiplexer has at least one wavelength routing element and at least one optical arrangement disposed to exchange light with the wavelength routing element. The wavelength routing element is of the type adapted for selectively routing wavelength components of a first optical signal onto multiple second optical signals according to a configurable state.

  • Patent number: 6208797
Abstract: An optical fiber connection unit has a circuit board with a hole formed therein, oval shaped inner and outer channels separated by an oval shaped separating wall, extension supports and a standoff. The oval shaped inner channel has a radius at least as large as a minimum bend radius of a polymeric optical fiber. The oval shaped outer channel follows the inner channel, but has a larger radius than the inner channel. The oval shaped separating wall has a plurality of openings formed therein where passage between the inner and outer channels is possible. The extension supports extend between the opposing sides of the inner channel. The extension supports meet at an intersection thereof, and a connection hole is formed at the intersection where the extension supports meet. The standoff is removably secured to both the hole in the circuit board and the connection hole formed at the intersection of the extension supports.

  • Patent number: 5886296
Abstract: An outside plant equipment enclosure for housing telecommunications equipment, which normally operates when the equipment enclosure is closed, is provided. The enclosure includes an internal compartment for storing telecommunications equipment, at least one opening in the internal compartment and a hydrophobic material. The at least one opening defines substantially the entire area of the internal compartment which is open to an outer atmosphere when the telecommunications equipment is normally operating. The hydrophobic material entirely covers every opening of the at least one opening.

  • Patent number: 5810613
Abstract: A circuit board connecting device electrically connects exposed back ends of circuit boards when the front ends of the circuit boards are received in a holder. The connecting device has first connectors, second connectors and a connector substrate. The first connectors are attached respectively to the back ends of the circuit boards and extend lengthwise with the back ends of the circuit boards. The second connectors are adapted for connection respectively to the first connectors when the first and second connectors are aligned in a plane parallel to a plane in which the circuit boards extend. The connector substrate has the second connectors attached thereto, extending perpendicular therefrom. The second connectors are electrically connected to each other on the connector substrate. The connector substrate is fixedly attached to one of the circuit boards.
