  • Patent number: 5610028
Abstract: A high frequency of transformation strain of estuarine Vibrio species is derived from a parent strain naturally transformable with broad-host-range plasmids. The strain has a unique morphology and is generated from the parental strain by transformation by broad-host-range plasmid multimers, and cured of the plasmid by growth of plasmid transformants in nonselective medium resulting in the cured high frequency of transformation strain that transforms significantly more frequently than the parental strain.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 23, 1995
Date of Patent: March 11, 1997
    Assignee: University of South Florida
Inventors: Marc E. Frischer, John H. Paul
