    Abstract: The invention relates to a device for controlling the power consumption of one or more electric resistance heating element in a vessel containing a heatable liquid, at least one inlet for receiving a liquid having a first temperature, at least one outlet for removing liquid having a second higher temperature, and at least one thermostat for directing power to at least one heating element. The device has a detector for detecting one or more predetermined conditions in the vessel relating to the amount of liquid having the second higher temperature remaining in the vessel, and for generating an initiating signal corresponding to the predetermined condition. A controller is responsive to the initiating signal, and is configured for outputting a corresponding switching signal. A power modulator is responsive to the switching signal, and is configured for modulating power to at least one heating element.
