  • Publication number: 20030188818
Abstract: This invention relates to an unvulcanized rubber tire which has at least one wire reinforced rubber component which contains wire reinforcement encapsulated with an unvulcanized rubber composition comprised of natural cis 1,4-polyisoprene rubber, and liquid polyisoprene polymer. The said encapsulation rubber composition of the tire component is then sulfur cured together with the curing of the tire itself. Such tire component may be, for example, a carcass ply and/or belt ply.

  • Patent number: 6539996
Abstract: A pneumatic tire has a sidewall rubber insert axially inward of at least one carcass ply. Such insert may, for example, be an apex extending radially outward from the bead core region of the tire into the sidewall. Alternatively, it may be positioned higher in the sidewall portion of the tire and away from the bead core. Such insert is a rubber composition containg a dispersion of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene and a dispersion of a starch composite.

  • Patent number: 6533008
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire having a rubber component comprised of (a) 100 parts by weight of at least one elastomer containing olefinic unsaturation; and (b) 1 to 20 phr of a liquid organic polysulfide polymer having a molecular weight of from 500 to 10,000.

  • Patent number: 6426378
Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of a partially vulcanized, pre-shaped rubber composition and use thereof as a component of an article of manufacture. In practice, the partially vulcanized rubber composition is adhered to an unvulcanized rubber substrate to form a composite thereof and the resulting composite vulcanized to create an article of manufacture. Such pre-vulcanized rubber composition is a composite comprised of at least one diene-based elastomer, amorphous silica, coupling agent and liquid diene-based polymer. Such partially vulcanized, pre-shaped rubber composition may be a component of a tire such as, for example, an apex, sidewall insert or tread. It may also be a component of an industrial rubber product such as, for example, a component of a conveyor belt, power transmission belt or a hose.
