  • Patent number: 6535911
Abstract: Automated computerized methods, computer-readable medium containing computer-executable instructions, and apparatus are disclosed for viewing an information set originated from a distribution media and updating using remote server. Initially, an information set is viewed from a standalone distribution media. A user can select all, or one or more components to be updated from a remote server. The local computer system is then updated with a modified index from the local computer referencing the original distribution media and received files kept in local storage. This update process is efficiently performed, and provides for resumption of downloads in the middle of sets of files, or even within a single file. Additionally, when the viewing system includes a standard browser, a proxy agent is used to provide access portions of the file system not normally accessible to the browser. The updated information set is then able to be viewed when the computer system is not connected with the remote server.

  • Patent number: 4556924
Abstract: A flexible disk drive in which the head moves in an arc, as the head is selectively moved to access the data at the various concentric data tracks of a disk. Concomitant with this approximate arcuate movement, the head is azimuth-rotated, such that its gap has a predefined, optimum azimuth orientation to each of the individual disk tracks, for example, the head's gap is normal to the track's center line at each head position.

  • Patent number: 4429987
Abstract: An early roll closure method and apparatus associated with an electrophotographic or xerographic device for fixing a toner image onto a copy sheet by application of heat and pressure. A lower closing force is exerted on the fuser rollers during early roll closure than when fixing an image to a copy sheet. The use of a backup roll made of bare metal facilitates this technique. This early roll closure method also allows the temperature of the heated fuser roll to be reduced along the entire circumference. The early roll closure is only allowed to occur on the first sheet of a copy or fusing run.
