  • Patent number: 6652000
Abstract: System for a vehicle that has a seat fitted with a measuring device of the electromagnetic field type, an airbag arranged to protect the occupant of the seat in the event of an accident, this airbag having several modes of operation, and an operating device designed to cause the airbag to inflate in the event of an accident, selectively according to one of the modes of operation of this airbag on the basis of a parameter representing the mass of the occupant of the seat, as measured by the electromagnetic field-type measuring device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 16, 2001
Date of Patent: November 25, 2003
    Assignee: Faurecia Sieges d'Automobile S.A.

  • Patent number: 6050635
Abstract: A seat pan is provided for an automobile vehicle seat and includes an anti-sub-marining cross-member that limits the movement of a user's pelvis toward the front of the seat. The cross-member extends crosswise to a seat pan framework and moves under the action of a cable, from a rest position to an extended position. In the extended position, the cross-member limits the movement of the user's pelvis toward the front of the seat. The ends of the cross-member are guided along a first trajectory and the seat pan includes energy dissipation means for controlling, from a predetermined threshold and from the extended position of the cross-member, forces transmitted by the seat to a user.

  • Patent number: 5669661
Abstract: The vehicle seat back includes two deformable elements both extending across the back (2) between two lateral uprights (3) defining the sides of the back, the elements comprising a first element (7) suitable for dissipating energy by deforming plastically in progressive manner, and a second element (8) suitable for stopping deformation of the first, the second element being disposed in such a manner that when a strong longitudinal thrust is applied to its middle portion, it begins by lengthening while offering practically no resistance until it reaches a given length, after which it becomes inextensible.
