Abstract: In a paintbrush holder of a type that includes a clamp for attaching the holder to the rim of a paint can and that includes a magnet mounted on a rigid bracket that extends from the clamp for magnetically engaging the ferrule of a paintbrush so as to hold the paintbrush in an upright position within the mouth of the paint can, the improvement of replacing the rigid bracket by a resilient member that greatly reduces the acceleration to which the paintbrush is subjected when the paint can is abruptly set down, so as to prevent the paintbrush from being jarred loose from the magnet and falling into the paint.
