  • Patent number: 4059446
Abstract: Sludge formation is reduced in the fixing and washing station of an automatic processing apparatus for rapid processing exposed photographic elements, by addition to the fixing and/or washing medium of a compound of the formula:R(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.n OHwherein n is at least 12 and R is an aliphatic group of 6 to 24 carbon atoms or an alkylaryl group.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 12, 1976
Date of Patent: November 22, 1977
    Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert, N.V.

  • Patent number: 3995298
Abstract: An apparatus of small dimensions may be used to operate the water contained in the processing baths of automatic processing machines. The solid residue may be collected and sent to silver recovery plants, whereas the evaporated water serves to heat the drying station of the processing machine whereinafter it may be fed to the washing station. In so doing, a considerable amount of wash water is recovered and no chemical compounds are discharged to the sewer through which pollution of surface waters is practically eliminated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 6, 1974
Date of Patent: November 30, 1976
    Assignee: AGFA-GEVAERT N.V.
Inventors: Camille Angelina Vandeputte, Marcel Robert Fierens, Marcel Frans Aelterman
