  • Patent number: 5275599
Abstract: An external fixator includes two elements (20) of at least one pin (21, 22), each element maintaining a bone fragment (11; 12), and a telescopic piece (50 comprising an internal bar (41) and an external bar (42), each pin element being connected to either the internal or the external bar. One of the bars includes first guiding means for cooperation with corresponding second guiding means being at least indirectly dependent on the other bar, the first and second guiding means being separated from each other by roller sliding means intended to reduce the friction during the relative movement of the bars.

  • Patent number: 5207676
Abstract: This external fixator for the correction and reduction of bone fragments comprises a bar (1) fastened to a biocompression system (5), on which bar and system are disposed the supports (2,3) for fastening the pins inserted into the bones, the components of which supports are movable in accordance with the arrows A, B, C and D. The member (6) permits the longitudinal displacement of the clip (2) in the direction of the arrow E, while the biocompression system (5) makes a reciprocating movement in accordance with the arrow F.A damping member (90,290) cooperates with means for regulating the force applied which are disposed outside the bar. Graduated markings (99,283) indicate the value of the force applied.

  • Patent number: 5167661
Abstract: This articulation device makes it possible to position a first elongated piece 20, which is capable of being pivoted through 360.degree. according to the arrow A, and a second piece 30, which is capable of swivelling about the shaft 40 according to the arrow B. These pieces are made integral with a U-shaped support 10, in relation to which they can be locked by shoes 60 and 70 which are held in position by a single securing screw 50. The pieces 20 and 30 can be connected to elements which are to be positioned, such as pins or connection rods which form part of an orthopaedic external fixing appliance consisting of pins inserted into bone fragments and of an external frame with connection rods.

  • Patent number: 5160335
Abstract: A pin holder support is provided which is suitable for external bone fixation utilizing pins inserted into bone. The device comprises a clamp for gripping the bone pins a deflection member, and a jaw which positions the device along a fixation bar. The deflection member is situated between the clamp and the jaw and has on one face, a rotation means for cooperation with a complementary means of the clamp or of the jaw such that the combination ensures rotatability of the clamp with respect to the jaw and, on its opposite face, a curved guide means for cooperation with a complementary curved means of the other of the jaw or of the clamp, respectively, so as to ensure ability of the clamp to swivel with respect to the jaw.

  • Patent number: 5122140
Abstract: This dynamic external fixation device for the wrist comprises an articulated joint 10 arranged between assemblies 40 and 50 for fixation of groups of pins 60 and 70 inserted in the bone on either side of the articulation 80 whose axis is detected by means of targeting needles 90. The fixation assemblies 40 and 50 permit positioning of the fixation device in the plane of the arrows A and B, while an adjustment device 20 and a device 30 permitting play permit its inclination transversely relative to this plane, without disturbing the positioning previously obtained.

  • Patent number: 4978350
Abstract: A transcutaneous fixation pin includes a threaded portion with flutes evenly spaced over the circumference of the pin at the anterior end of the threaded portion so as to perform a tapping operation when the end of the threaded portion penetrates a bone fragment. The flutes take the form of a notch creating a cutting edge of the tap, with clearance relief being provided behind the cutting edge of the tap which approaches the centerline of the pin until it reaches the next notch, so as to form a clearance angle. In a modification the flutes are disposed helicoidally in relation to the axis of the thread, with the helix and the thread being pitched in the same direction.
