  • Patent number: 10334952
Abstract: A chair is disclosed herein of the kind that is shipped disassembled in a compact shipping package to be assembled by the end user without the use of tools. The chair has a pair of user actuated height and tilt control paddles by which the elevation of the seat and the tilt of the seat and back of the chair can be adjusted relative to the base which holds the seat above the ground. In one embodiment, the height and tilt control paddles are removably attached to the seat at respective paddle receivers connected to the bottom of the seat. In another embodiment, the height and tilt control paddles are removably received by respective paddle cavities formed in the arms of the chair. By removing the paddles from their paddle receivers or paddle cavities, the parts of the disassembled chair may be more efficiently packaged for shipment.

  • Patent number: 10278504
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a chair of the kind that is shipped to a user disassembled. The chair includes at least one chair function controller (i.e., a paddle) that is actuated to control a chair function operator (e.g., a gas cylinder located below and coupled to the chair seat). During assembly, a pair of cable sections are mechanically and serially connected to one another at a force responsive connector block that is located within and slidable through a cable connector housing at the bottom of the chair seat. By virtue of connecting the first and second cables together at the connector block, the chair function controller paddle is connected to the chair function operator so that an actuation of the controller causes a pulling force to be applied to the chair function operator to enable the seat or back of the chair to be displaced.

  • Patent number: 9603455
Abstract: A seat having particular application for a chair to enhance the comfort of one seated in the chair. A plurality of (e.g., foam) cushion layers laying one over the other are located at the top of the seat. One of the plurality of foam cushion layers is manufactured from a material having a memory which conforms to and temporarily retains the shape of the user. Located at the bottom of the seat below the plurality of cushion layers are a plurality of coil springs that stand upwardly against the cushion layers in side-by-side alignment with one another so that the back of the seat is firmer than the front. The plurality of cushion layers are arranged in a stack such that the density of the memory foam cushion layer is greater than the density of the other ones of the plurality of cushion layers.
