  • Patent number: 4950242
Abstract: A cover for a hypodermic needle-syringe unit has a wall defining an elongated enclosure, a longitudinal partition divides the enclosure into a first chamber and a second chamber, the first chamber having a mouth and the second chamber having a mouth, and the second chamber containing a substance effective to clog the lumen of a hypodermic needle when the needle is brought into contact with it. Preferably, the wall covering the second chamber has a slot in it so that a hypodermic needle can be inserted into the second chamber by passing it laterally through the slot.

  • Patent number: 4948137
Abstract: A tethered playing device for exercising dogs is provided, which includes a tethered line and a ball releasably suspended from the line. A handle is provided to manipulate the line to cause the ball to move. The dog jumps around and receives strenuous exercise in chasing the moving ball.

  • Patent number: 4177811
Abstract: A cleansing and applicator device is disclosed, which is especially useful in treatment of the perineal area of the human anatomy. The device comprises a generally conically shaped applicator body, formed preferably of a good heat conductor, the device being hollow and closed at the base thereof by a removable cap, whereby a cooling or heating liquid may be provided to the body interior. A flexible and compressible covering structure for effecting cleansing and treatment is fitted about and thereby encloses at least the portion of the applicator body including the apex. The covering structure preferably includes multiple layers, including at least one moisture-absorbent layer. The applicator body may include a necked-in portion toward the base thereof, so that the covering structure can be frictionally secured to the body, such as with an elastic band or a clamp.

  • Patent number: 4170993
Abstract: An I.V. needle carrier assembly is disclosed which includes a delta-shaped base plate and an I. V. needle carrier-receiving barrel secured to the base plate and extending along the axis of symmetry thereof, so that the forward open end of the barrel resides at the apex of the delta. An I.V. needle carrier is slidingly received within the barrel and means are provided for sliding the carrier between a rearward position at which the needle tip is axially retracted within the barrel, and a forward position at which the needle tip is fully extended through the barrel front open end, whereby the needle may be inserted into the blood vessel of a patient. Adhesion means are affixed to the upper surfaces of the base plate at alternate sides of the barrel. These means include portions extendable beyond the lateral perimeter of the delta for anchoring the plate to the skin of the patient upon the needle being received into the blood vessel.

  • Patent number: 4139009
Abstract: A disposable hypodermic needle assembly is disclosed which includes a permanently attached but retractable covering means for the forward portions of the needle. The assembly comprises a hub portion adapted for attachment to the outlet end of a syringe, the hub portion including a central passageway for enabling liquid flow to or from the syringe. A hollow needle is connected to the hub with its inlet end communicating with the central passageway of the hub. An annular slide member surrounds and is longitudinally slideable with respect to the needle, the member being positionable to normally cover the forward portion of the needle. A plurality of elastically resilient arms extend between the hub portion and slide member. The said arms, which may e.g. comprise plastic strips, act to normally maintain the slide member in its position covering the forward portion of the needle.

  • Patent number: 4103418
Abstract: A manually-operated shaving device, for shaving skin areas during or incidental to surgical or cosmetic treatment. The device comprises a generally wheel-shaped shaving body, the rim of which carries a plurality of shaving edges. A handle means is rigidly secured to the wheel and extends outwardly in alignment with the wheel axis, to thereby enable oscillating clockwise and counterclockwise rotation of the wheel by operator manipulation of the handle means. A support member is secured to the side of the wheel opposite the handle means, and extends a short distance from the wheel in alignment with the said wheel axis. The member includes a smooth concavity at its distal end for receiving the finger tip of the hand of the operator which is opposed to that manipulating the handle means. The contacting finger serves as a pivotal support during rotation and orientation of the shaving body with respect to the skin area being treated.
