Patent number: 10178858Abstract: A system and method of monitoring and controlling cellulose-consuming pests in a predetermined location with existing wells formed in the ground, provides for the use of an assembly that has a main body with a transverse upper lip, a flexible resilient sealing member fitted underside the lip in a surrounding relationship to the main body, and tightening bolts extending through the lip and the sealing member. When torque is applied to the tightening bolts, the sealing member is then compressed, causing it to expand horizontally and engage the interior walls of the existing well by sealing same. The main body is configured to removably receive one or more bait unit therein. A cap covering an open top of the main body covers the bait units when the system is positioned in the well.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2018Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Inventors: Marcus Azzarello, Joseph Azzarello

Patent number: 9974295Abstract: A system and method of monitoring and controlling cellulose-consuming pests in a predetermined location, providing for the use of an assembly that has a main body with a cylindrical upper portion and a lower portion continuously co-axially formed with the upper portion. The lower portion is formed as blades meeting at a lowermost point and defining a sharp bottom point that helps penetrate the soil in the selected location. A plurality of cellulose-containing bait units are detachably fitted in the lower portion and the upper portion. The bait units fitted in the lower portion are retained by the blade portions, which engage radial slots of the bait units. A moisture-retaining member is positioned in the upper portion above an uppermost of the bait units. A removable cap frictionally fittingly engages with the upper portion. The cap has an opening allowing water to be poured into the main body to moisten the bait units and make them more attractive to foraging insects.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2017Date of Patent: May 22, 2018Inventors: Marcus Azzarello, Joseph Azzarello

Patent number: 9723828Abstract: A system and method of monitoring and controlling cellulose-consuming pests in a predetermined location above ground level or in the walls of buildings, such as on or in interior or exterior walls of residential or commercial buildings, aboard boats and watercraft, directly on infested support members like beams, studs, and joists, attached to landscape features like timbers, fences, and sheds, and on infested trees. The system is meant to be an attractive system to the termites, rather than an interceptor system like the present art. A plurality of cellulose-containing bait units are removably placed in the assembly. A moisture-retaining member is positioned in the upper portion above an uppermost of the bait units. A removable cap frictionally fittingly engages with the upper portion. The cap has an opening allowing liquid, such as water, to be poured into the main body to moisten the bait units and make them more attractive to foraging insects.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2016Date of Patent: August 8, 2017Inventors: Marcus Azzarello, Joseph Azzarello
