  • Patent number: 8280657
Abstract: A method of storing data in a utility monitoring system includes monitoring a characteristic of a utility system in an intelligent electronic device (IED) to produce monitored characteristic values that are buffered in the IED. The IED is communicatively coupled to a server via a network. The monitored characteristic values are indicative of the characteristic. The method further includes storing a first monitored characteristic value of the buffered monitored characteristic values periodically at a first logging interval in a memory of the IED. The method further includes storing a second monitored characteristic value of the buffered monitored characteristic values periodically at a second logging interval in the memory of the IED in response to satisfying a criterion. The second logging interval is distinct from the first logging interval.

  • Patent number: 7701328
Abstract: An alarm management system includes an alarm management system server (“alarm server”), one or more data sources, and one or more system users (and associated user devices), all of which can be communicably connected through a communications network. The system can be configured by defining the data sources and users, defining attributes, assigning and associating attribute values with the data sources and users, and defining alarm conditions in terms of attribute values and measurements. The data sources generate measurement data which is provided to the alarm server, and the alarm server evaluates the data to determine whether the alarm conditions have been met. A data set of data sources matching alarm conditions can be generated and reported to one or more of the users.

  • Patent number: 7369950
Abstract: A power quality analysis system includes a combination of at least one of a power quality parameter value, power quality event properties, non-power quality properties, and time properties. The parameter value and other properties is used to create power quality information that is descriptive of power quality events. The power quality information is easily configured and organized based on the desired options in order to make it more understandable and usable.

  • Publication number: 20050143941
Abstract: A system and method of specifying reconfigure to order electronic devices is disclosed. A customer interacts with a reseller to specify the electronic device they wish to purchase, any software to be loaded on the electronic device prior to shipment. A portion of the software is provided by the customer to the reseller. An electronic device is selected from inventory stock and reconfigured. The electronic device is delivered to the customer capable of being used within the customer's specific application without further configuration by the customer.

  • Patent number: 6853978
Abstract: A system and method of specifying built and configured to order intelligent electronic devices (“IED's”) is disclosed. A customer interacts with an order processing interface to specify the type and model of IED they wish to purchase, any hardware options they wish installed and custom software to be loaded on the IED prior to shipment. The custom software includes object oriented frameworks which are functional applications custom developed by the customer. Once produced according to the customer's specifications, an IED is delivered to the customer which is capable of being used within the customer's specific application without further configuration by the customer.

  • Publication number: 20040162642
Abstract: A power management architecture for an electrical power distribution system, or portion thereof, is disclosed. The architecture includes one or more data sources, such as intelligent electronic devices (“IED's”), distributed throughout the power distribution system to manage and report the flow and consumption of the power from the system. The data sources are linked via a network to one or more decentralized world wide web browser based data processing applications, the browser application allowing multiple users to individually retrieve, process and display the data from a single, or a combination of multiple data sources. The browser application also allows users to manage the data.
