  • Patent number: 6247021
Abstract: One or more searchable repositories of bookmark sets are stored in a computer system, each bookmark set can be downloaded to a client browser as a unit. Each bookmark set contains a set of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and is associated with related information such as a set of keywords, one or more topics and user specific information. The bookmark set is downloadable as a unit to the client browser. When a search query from a client containing a set of keywords is received, the stored bookmark sets are searched for one or more bookmark sets associated with at least one keyword matching a keyword from the search query. A list of bookmark sets which satisfy the query, i.e. are associated with matching keywords, are returned to the client browser. Responsive to a request for downloading a selected bookmark set, the selected bookmark is served to the client. The selected bookmark set is received and used by the client browser to access the set of URLs in the selected bookmark set.

  • Patent number: 6237035
Abstract: A system and method for controlling duplicate transaction submission in a web browser/web server environment. The client web browser is modified to include a process duplicate action select (e.g. duplicate mouse “clicks”) detection. This process establishes a variable for an action indicating whether the action has been previously selected. Upon selection, the process tests the action variable and passes the transaction request if not previously submitted and returns an error otherwise. The server process has been augmented with a duplicate transaction process. The server software inserts a _tranid parameter into each of a plurality of selected pages returned to a browser for transaction processing. The server maintains a record of the last used jranid. The server compares a tranid returned in a user request to the recorded value. If previously processed, an error is returned to the requester.

  • Patent number: 6230157
Abstract: To facilitate automatic code generation for Java and JavaScript applications executed over the Internet, complex nested data structures resulting from non-unique naming of data fields are flattened. Fully-qualified names for each data field are created. The fully-qualified names include the names of all nodes within a nesting path for a given data field. Where fully-qualified names become overly cumbersome, aliases may be utilized and mapped to the fully-qualified names within a correlation table. The object hierarchy for an application is thus simplified.

  • Patent number: 6211871
Abstract: Access to the Internet is provided using a plurality of bookmark sets. A plurality of bookmark sets are stored in a computer system having a browser, each bookmark set including a respective set of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs). One of the bookmark sets is designated as an active bookmark set in the browser. Browser based access to the Internet is allowed according to the URLs in the active bookmark set. When a request to retrieve an Internet file from a designated URL is detected, e.g., by hyperlink, the designated URL is checked against the URLs in the active bookmark set. Only if there is a match between the designated URL and a respective URL in the active bookmark set is the request allowed to proceed. The creation of as well as other actions on a bookmark set is associated with one or more passwords.

  • Patent number: 6211874
Abstract: A method of accessing files located in a computer system, by selecting a plurality of embedded links (such as hypertext links) from one or more pages displayed in a browser window, and processing the plurality of embedded links concurrently. The embedded links may include at least two embedded links from a single page displayed in the browser window, or may include at least one embedded link from a first page and at least one other embedded link from a second page. In one implementation, a pop-up menu is displayed once the links have all been selected, wherein the pop-up menu has a plurality of menu items associated with different types of link processing.

  • Patent number: 6208995
Abstract: Bookmark sets are provided to a browser in a computer system by downloading a respective bookmark set as a unit. The process begins by creating a bookmark set at a first computer system computer system coupled to a network, the bookmark set containing a set of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and downloadable as a unit one or more computer systems. A request for downloading the bookmark set results in sending the bookmark set via the network to a second computer system. The bookmark set is received and used at the second computer system by a browser to access the set of URLs. The request for downloading the bookmark set can be initiated at the first computer system as a push operation or at the second computer system in a pull operation. The bookmark set can be set for automatic update; if changes are made at the first computer system, the updated bookmark set to the second computer system. The bookmark set can be incorporated in a downloaded web document.

  • Patent number: 6167441
Abstract: Customized Internet content is provided to a requesting client device using an intercepting agent based on the capabilities of the requesting client. The agent, typically at the web server to which the client request is directed intercepts a request made by a requesting client device for a file from a web server. The agent detects client device capability information about the requesting client device, such as display or memory capabilities. The client request is redirected to a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) according to the detected client device capability information to retrieve a version of the requested file.

  • Patent number: 6092100
Abstract: A Web browser running on a client machine typically includes an address field in which a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) may be entered. The URL identifies a particular server (or file) located at a target Web site. If a given URL is entered incorrectly at the Web client, a fuzzy URL detection scheme automatically performs a fuzzy search that returns a list of URLs that most closely match what was originally entered into the browser address field. The user can then select the correct URL from the list and launch the browser to the desired site, or to a directory or file within that site. If the fuzzy search does not reveal a match, the browser may contact a server dedicated to performing a broader fuzzy search. In another alternative, the browser contacts a Web server and the fuzzy search is implemented at the Web server in order to return a particular file.

  • Patent number: 6041360
Abstract: Access to the Internet is provided using dynamic bookmarks. A first bookmark is stored in a browser in a computer system, the first bookmark referencing a web page at a Uniform Resource Locator (URL). A dynamic attribute for the first bookmark to keep it updated. When a change is detected in the web page data incorporated in the first bookmark, it is automatically updated by virtue of its dynamic attribute to reflect the change in web page data. The change in web page data can be detected during a request for the web page referenced by the first bookmark. If redirection of the request to a new URL is detected, the first bookmark is updated to the new URL. A new request for the web page is issued using the new URL. The change in web page data could alternatively be a change in the name of the web page. Setting the dynamic attribute is accomplished by the browser or at the server for a downloaded bookmark. In the preferred embodiment, the bookmark is a member of a bookmark set.
