  • Publication number: 20110109078
Abstract: The present invention relates to a security element for security papers, value documents and the like, having a micro-optical moiré magnification arrangement having a first motif image that consists of a planar periodic or at least locally periodic arrangement of a plurality of first micromotif elements (38) that produce a hidden piece of image information, and a planar periodic or at least locally periodic arrangement of a plurality of microfocusing elements (34) for the moiré-magnified viewing of the first micromotif elements of the motif image, the first micromotif elements (38) being formed from nematic liquid crystal material and forming a phase-shifting layer for light from a specified wavelength range, and the magnified moiré image being perceptible substantially only upon viewing the security element through a polarizer.

  • Publication number: 20100207376
Abstract: The present invention relates to a security element (20) for security papers, value documents and the like, having a substrate (22) and an opaque metallization 24, 26) arranged on the substrate. According to the invention in the security element is provided, that the metallization (24, 26) comprises a first opaque metal layer (24) and a second opaque metal layer (26) arranged above the first metal layer (24), and that the two metal layers (24, 26) have substantially the same tone of color in the visible spectral region.

  • Patent number: 7758078
Abstract: The invention relates to a security element (12, 18) with a carrier film (20) and a cover layer (22; 42; 50) applied to the carrier film (20). The cover layer has gaps (24; 30, 32, 34; 44) in the form of characters or patterns forming visually and/or machine readable first information. Additionally, a printed image (26; 36, 38, 40; 46, 48; 52) forming visually and/or machine readable second information is disposed in the gaps (24; 30, 32, 34; 44) in register, the first and second information being different.

  • Patent number: 7637537
Abstract: A card, in particular credit card, identity card, bank card or the like is proposed that includes a plurality of laminated layers between which a security element with a relief structure, in particular holographic diffraction structures, is embedded. The materials are selected so that the softening temperature of the security element layer having the relief structure has a higher softening temperature than the card layers between which the security element is laminated. This permits the multilayer laminated card to be produced by conventional laminating methods without appreciably impairing the relief structure by the pressures and temperatures thereby occurring. Special combinations of materials and in particular suitable materials for the layer having the relief structure are proposed.

  • Publication number: 20090001709
Abstract: The present invention relates to multi-ply security paper for manufacturing security or value documents, such as banknotes, identification cards and the like. Into a first paper ply (52) is introduced an endless security element (54) that is freely accessible on at least one side of the paper ply (52). The first paper ply (52) is covered on the freely accessible side of the security element (54) by a second paper ply (56), and the second paper ply (56) exhibits one or more openings (58) in the region of the security element (54).
