Patent number: 4925142Abstract: A davit arm for an electrical utility pole or the like is disclosed and is adapted to support an electrical conductor or fiber optic cable on an associated electrical utility pole. The davit arm includes an elongated self-supporting body adapted to support the electrical conductor or fiber optic cable at free end thereof. A hollow support member is positioned over an opposite end of the elongated body and includes an integral, generally transversely extending supporting flange which is adapted to be attached to an associated utility pole for mounting the elongated self-supporting body in a substantially normal stand-off position relative to the utility pole. The elongated self-supporting body is positively secured within the hollow support member so as maintain the elongated body in assembled relationship thereto during use of the davit arm on an associated utility pole.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1988Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Aluma-Form, Inc.Inventor: Marion R. Patent number: 4903927Abstract: An improved electrical equipment cluster mount for use upon a utility pole or the like is disclosed. The improved electrical equipment cluster mount includes an elongated bearing plate adapted to be mounted to the utility pole and having one or a pair of spaced and elongated polygonally configured structural members each having a plurality of elongated sides and open ends, said members capable of being solid or hollow, and with each hollow structural member being attached to the elongated bearing plate along one side thereof. A plurality of individual brackets extend from other sides of each hollow structural member in predetermined spaced relationship to one another along the elongated sides and are also structurally interlocked with at least one other adjacent bracket on the hollow structural member for mounting electrical equipment, such as transformers, in a predetermined clustered array relative to the utility pole.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1989Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Assignee: Aluma-Form, Inc.Inventor: Marion R. Farmer

Patent number: 4896856Abstract: An electrical equipment cluster mount for use upon a utility pole or the like is disclosed. The mount includes an elongated bearing plate adapted to be mounted to the utility pole and a hollow polygonal structural member, preferably trapezoidal-shaped, including a plurality of sides, at least one of which is attached to the elongated bearing plate. Individual brackets extend from other sides of the hollow structural member and are interlocked with at least one other adjacent bracket on the hollow structural member. The brackets may be inclined downwardly towards or upwardly away from one another to facilitate mounting of the equipment thereto on different spacings, as well as being positioned at least partially forwardly or rearwardly of the hollow structural member to mount the electrical equipment in a circumferentially disposed array or all on one side of the utility pole.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1988Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: Aluma-Form, Inc.Inventors: Marion R. Farmer, Randall L. Hook

Patent number: 4795856Abstract: A bracket useful for supporting and holding fiber optic or other cable to a utility pole, or the like, including the bracket having a base member, a shank portion extending integrally therefrom, being curved so as to center the bracket and held cable over its base member, the upper end of the shank portion being bifurcated, integrally formed into a pair of arms, that extend outwardly into the formation of cradle members that support the cable thereon. Tie members in combination with grommets are useful for holding the cable onto the bracket, at each cradle, and at that location between the pair of bracket arms at the location where they are integrally formed extending from the bracket shank portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1987Date of Patent: January 3, 1989Assignee: Aluma-Form, Inc.Inventor: Marion R. Farmer

Patent number: 4742656Abstract: An earth anchor for embedding within the ground and incorporating a helical blade(s), having flattened side edges, intervened by rounded or arcuate corners, and connecting with its shank for securement with any driving apparatus useful for the power driving of such an earth anchor into the ground; while the shaped blade of this anchor incorporates a lineal cutting edge, and an arcuate cutting edge, that integrally blends into a segment of the lineal side edge of the blade, and which composite edges function as a compound cutting edge for driving of the earth anchor into the soil, and through the exertion of only a reduced force.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1986Date of Patent: May 10, 1988Assignee: Dixie Electrical Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Marion R. Farmer

Patent number: 4626330Abstract: A torsionally installed anode for galvanic corrosion protection and a combination torsionally installed anode and earth penetrator is disclosed. The anode may be screwed (i.e., torsionally installed) into the earth (e.g., the seabed, the riverbed, or the ground) so as to constitute a sacrificial anode. The anode may serve the dual purpose of protecting an underwater metallic article (e.g., a pipeline or the like) from corrosion, and of supporting the metallic article above the seabed.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1985Date of Patent: December 2, 1986Assignee: Dixie Electrical Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Marion R. Farmer

Patent number: 4127739Abstract: A bracket for supporting electrical components that accommodate the transmission of three-phase electrical energy. The bracket includes a crossarm, generally of linear design, and formed of electrically conductive tubular material for allowing its supplemental use as a bus bar for grounding of the various electrical components mounted thereon. A series of angle members having flanges that are arranged either horizontally or vertically disposed with respect to a surface of the crossarm, form mounting surfaces upon which either terminations, cutouts, or arrestors, or any combination of such, may be mounted all upon one level with respect to a utility pole. The supports that mount the crossarm to the utility pole are preferably electrically insulative, so as to enhance the protection of a lineman working in proximity to the crossarm.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1977Date of Patent: November 28, 1978Assignee: Aluma-Form Inc.Inventor: Marion R.
