Patent number: 7513337Abstract: A method and a system for entering a destination floor call, for storing the call data of a destination floor call entered by the user, for allocating an elevator car to the user on the basis of the landing call data of the destination floor call and for transmitting a car call to the elevator car when the elevator is arriving at the landing. In the method, the user inputs a destination floor call using a destination call device. The destination floor call can be stored in the memory of the destination call device, in which case the call data transmitted to the control system comprises only the landing call, i.e. information specifying the user's starting floor and whether the destination floor given by the user is in the upward or downward direction. The destination floor call can also be transmitted directly to the elevator control system, which stores the call data of the destination floor call in the memory of the control system.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2008Date of Patent: April 7, 2009Assignee: Kone CorporationInventors: Marja-Liisa Siikonen, Janne Sorsa, Pentti Laihanen

Publication number: 20080302609Abstract: The present invention discloses a method, a system and a computer program for the effective evacuation of a building in an emergency, in which at least one elevator can be used as an evacuation aid. In the method the group control of the elevators monitors the numbers of people on the different floors of the building. The floor on which it is assumed are most people is set at each moment of monitoring for a greater priority in an evacuation situation. Taking into account the limited supply power a free elevator car is directed to the floor of the greatest priority, at which the elevator is filled. The full elevator is directed without stopping to the exit floor of the building. The system monitors by means of detectors the safety of the different parts of the building and directs people if necessary to a safe evacuation location to wait for an elevator. A so-called Traffic Forecaster can be used as an aid in defining the priorities.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2008Publication date: December 11, 2008Applicant: KONE CORPORATIONInventors: Marja-Liisa SIIKONEN, Janne Sorsa, Jukka-Pekka Sarjanen, Kim Barlund

Patent number: 6345697Abstract: As elevator group including at least two elevator cars is controlled using a group control unit which allocates the calls to different elevators. Based on statistical data and/or statistical forecasts, virtual passenger traffic is generated and used in a simulation that creates events in the virtual passenger traffic, on the basis of which an elevator-specific cost is computed for each call to be allocated. Based on the costs, the best elevator is selected to serve the call. This allocation of a best elevator to answer a specific landing call may be reallocated as the simulation is updated to update the best elevator to answer a specific floor call.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2000Date of Patent: February 12, 2002Assignee: Kone CorporationInventor: Marja-Liisa Siikonen

Patent number: 6237721Abstract: A method for controlling an elevator group of double-deck elevators. Landing calls are allocated to the elevators and elevator decks in such a way that the passenger journey time is optimized. The method takes into account the current landing call time and the estimated time of arrival to the destination floor. The method minimizes passenger journey time by allocating the landing call to the deck that will cause the fewest additional stops to the elevator and least additional delay on the way to the passenger destination floor. In addition, the elevator estimated time of arrival to a destination floor is calculated separately for each deck, taking into account the stops already existing for the elevator and the additional stops caused by the selected landing call. Further the landing call is allocated to the deck for which the estimated time of arrival to the destination floor is least. In addition, the best deck for each landing call is selected by minimizing a cost function.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1998Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Kone CorporationInventor: Marja-Liisa Siikonen
