  • Patent number: 10901479
Abstract: A battery operated portable communication device (100) provides improved power up of converged functionality managed by a power arbitration module (PAM) (104), a baseband processor (BP) (108), and an applications processor (AP) (104). In response to a control switch (120) being turned on, the baseband processor generates a time delay and asserts a boot-line to the applications processor which prevents full power up of the applications processor and during which a battery impedance is read, thereby preventing simultaneous power up of the AP and BP. The boot-line from the baseband processor to the applications processor is released once the BP power up is complete and battery impedance is read.

  • Patent number: 10764267
Abstract: A method and system for authenticating a communication device with an application server. The application server includes a gateway registration port, a gateway server port, and an electronic processor. The electronic processor is configured to receive, via the gateway registration port, a registration request, including a unique identifier, from a first device over a first communications network that operates in accordance with a first modality and receive, at the gateway server port, an access request including an identifier from an unknown device over a second communications network that operates in accordance with a second modality. Abstract: A Public Key Infrastructure (PM) device receives a certificate signing request (CSR) from an end entity. The PKI device obtains at least one of: a controlling attribute of at least one PKI device associated with processing of the certificate signing request and a controlling attribute associated with the CSR. The PKI device obtains an end entity policy object (EEPO) to be associated with the end entity based on at least one obtained controlling attribute. Based on the obtained EEPO, the PKI device determines at least one attribute and at least one value associated with the attribute this is to be included in a certificate and issues, to the end entity, the certificate including the at least one attribute.

  • Patent number: 9277407
Abstract: Authentication methods are used to authenticate, a device1 having an ESN1 (electronic serial number), a device2 having an ESN2, and/or a user of the devices. In one implementation, device1 receives the ESN2 in a near-field signal; derives an authentication result as a function of the ESN1 and ESN2; and sends the authentication result to an authenticator device to use in completing authentication. Authentication is confirmed when the device1 authentication result matches an authentication result independently generated by the authenticator device, which is provisioned with the ESN1 and ESN2. In a second implementation, device1 generates a RAND1 (random number) and sends the RAND1 to device2 over a near-filed link. An authenticator device confirms authentication upon receiving the same RAND1 from both device1 and device2.

  • Patent number: 9077444
Abstract: A wireless method and apparatus for late entry in frequency hopping systems that, during call setup, computes a random permutation sequence through a hop set of frequencies, chooses preamble frequencies to omit data thereon in lieu of preamble data, and swaps frequencies in the random permutation sequence such that synchronization frequencies lie next to the preamble frequencies with an expected delay such that late entrants can join. The wireless method and apparatus meets the FCC requirement of maintaining a pseudorandom hopping pattern and equal distribution of all frequencies in a hop set while guaranteeing late entry and having no effect on battery performance of radios.
