  • Patent number: 5678454
Abstract: A steering column (10) has a first steering column member (12) movable axially relative to a second steering column member (14). A support (68, 144) for connecting the steering column to a vehicle frame includes first and second clamping members (68, 144) at least partially circumscribing a member (58) connected to the first steering column member (12) for clamping the member (58) connected to the first steering column member (12) to lock the first steering column member (12) in any one of an infinite number of positions relative to the second steering column member (14). The first clamping member (68) is adapted to be connected to the vehicle frame. The second clamping member (144) has a first end portion (148) connected to the first clamping member (68) and a second end portion (142). A cam (122) engaging the second end portion (142) of the second clamping member (144) applies a clamping force to the second clamping member (144).

  • Patent number: 5645299
Abstract: A steering column support for mounting a steering column in a vehicle comprises a mounting plate having a first surface for engaging the vehicle and a channel for receiving the steering column located on a side opposite from the first surface. The mounting plate is connectable in any one of a plurality of positions along an axis of the steering column. The mounting plate further includes slots located on opposite sides of the channel for receiving fasteners for connecting the mounting plate to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5363716
Abstract: A steering column has a first steering column member movable axially relative to a second steering column member. An input shaft is connected with the steering wheel and supported on the first steering column member for pivotable movement relative to the first steering column member. A first lock locks the first steering column member in any one of an infinite number of axial positions relative to the second steering column member. A second lock locks the input shaft in any one of an infinite number of pivot positions relative to the first steering column member. A member to unlock the first and second locks has a first position in which the first lock is unlocked and the second lock is locked. The member has another position in which the second lock means is unlocked and the first lock is locked.

  • Patent number: 5172792
Abstract: The disc brake (10, 210) comprises a support member (12, 212) having circumferentially spaced apart pin support portions (16, 18; 216, 218) with pin openings (20, 24). A cordal type carrier having inboard (32, 232), outboard (34, 234), and circumferentially spaced apart sides (36, 236; 38, 238) is mounted slidably by pins (22, 28; 222, 228) on the support member (12, 212). The pins extend slidably through the pin openings (20, 24) and are each fixed to the carrier (30, 230). One (22, 222) of the pins (22, 28; 222, 228) has a larger diameter than the other (28, 228) of the pins (22, 28; 222, 228), and the smaller diameter pin (28) has disposed thereabout an axially extending and slidable sleeve member (26).

  • Patent number: 4969540
Abstract: The center loop anti-rattle spring (50) comprises a pad biasing plate (52) which biases disc brake pads radially inwardly to prevent rattling. The pad biasing plate (52) has at one axial edge (55) a loop arm (56) which extends around approximately 270.degree. in order to position an axially extending axial arm (58) orthogonally relative to the pad biasing plate (52). The axial arm (58) extends into circumferentially extending ear members (62) each having an opening (64) for receiving a pin (60) which connects the spring (50) to a torque support member (18). Each ear member (62) extends into a radial retention tab (66) which extends axially under an arm end (22) of the torque support member (18). The pad biasing plate (52) has oppositely disposed corner recessed areas (54) for reception of the radial retention tabs (66). The axial arm (58) includes a center notch (63) for receiving a base portion (57) of the loop arm (56) during manufacture of the spring.
