Abstract: Compounds having the structural formula ##STR1## where X, Y, R and Z are defined in the specification are disclosed. The compounds of this invention are effective for controlling mites, nematodes, rice planthopper, tobacco budworm, and southern corn rootworm. Methods for making these compounds are also set forth.

Abstract: A compound having the structural formula ##STR1## where R is at least one of hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, halogen, cyano, phenyl, phenoxy, benzyl or COOR.sup.1 ; and R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl is disclosed. A composition comprising a growth regulant effective amount of the compound and a carrier therefor is also set forth. In addition, a process for regulating plant growth comprising applying a plant growth regulant effective amount of the compound to the locus of the plant whose growth is to be regulated is taught.

Abstract: Organophosphorus-substituted oxadiazines are disclosed which exhibit insecticidal, acaricidal and nematicidal activity, as well as compositions including such compounds, and methods for controlling insects, acarids or nematodes employing such compounds and/or compositions. Also disclosed are novel intermediates useful in the preparation of such compounds.

Abstract: An organophosphorus compound having the structural formula ##STR1## where R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl; R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl; or R and R.sup.1 together are a diradical having the formula --SC(Y).dbd.Z--, where Y is halogen, hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl; and Z is nitrogen, CH, C(CH.sub.3) or C(C.sub.2 H.sub.5) with the proviso that if Y is hydrogen, Z cannot be CH; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, chlorine or bromine; R.sup.3 is methyl or ethyl; R.sup.4 is methoxy, ethoxy, --SCH.sub.3 or --SC.sub.2 H.sub.5 ; and X is oxygen or sulfur and their hydrochlorides is disclosed. These compounds are useful as insecticides or nematocides.In another aspect of this invention a method of controlling rice planthoppers is provided. In this method an insecticidally effective amount of a compound having the formula given above where R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or benzyl; R.sup.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl; or R and R.sup.1 together are a diradical selected from the group consisting of --CH.dbd.CH--CH.dbd.

Abstract: An organophosphorus compound of the formula ##STR1## where R and R.sup.1 together form a 1,3-butadien-1,4-diyl group optionally substituted with a chloro group, or R and R.sup.1 together form a 1,2-ethenediylthio group wherein sulfur is attached to carbon; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, chlorine or bromine; X is O or S; R.sup.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl; and R.sup.4 is C.sub.1 or C.sub.2 alkoxy or propylthio is disclosed. The organophosphorus compounds defined above are effective in the control of insects, nematodes and acarids.

Abstract: A compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R and R.sup.1 together form a 1,3-butadien-1,4-diyl group optionally substituted with a methyl or chloro group and R.sup.2 is halogen is disclosed. The compound is useful as an intermediate in the synthesis of insecticidal organophosphorus compounds.

Abstract: Compounds of the following formula are effective as premergence herbicides: ##STR1## wherein R and R.sup.1 may be the same or different and are C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkoxy, phenyl or halogen, provided that R or R.sup.1 is not halogen if attached in the 3- position of the pyridine ring, and R or R.sup.1 may further be hydrogen provided that one of them is one of the recited moieties other than hydrogen; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen, methyl or ethyl; R.sup.3 is phenyl or phenyl substituted with halogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkoxy, or nitro; and n is 1 or 2.
