  • Patent number: 9027282
Abstract: Certain example embodiments relate to a sliding window assembly (e.g., of the type found in utility cabs or other vehicles), and methods of making the same. A slidable window panel includes at least one top pin and at least one bottom pin attached thereto. A single fixed window panel includes a hole being defined therein for receiving the slidable panel. Elongated upper and lower rails connected to the fixed panel include upper and lower rail channels defined therein for slidingly receiving the at least one top and bottom pin attached to the slidable panel. Forward and rear end details are provided to each of the upper and lower rails proximate to the hole for slidingly receiving, in respective channels formed therein, the at least one top and bottom pins. The slidable panel is laterally movable when being opened via the respective rail channels provided to the upper and lower rails.

  • Patent number: 7155863
Abstract: A window structure which may be used as a rear window in a pick-up truck or the like. In certain example embodiments, the window structure includes a slidable window panel or sheet located between a pair of fixed window panels or sheets. The slidable window panel may be approximately flush with the fixed panels when in the closed position, but not in the opened position. A seal carrier may be supported by the sliding window, and a bulb seal may be supported by at least the seal carrier so as to cover gap(s) adjacent an edge of the sliding window panel. A latch assembly is provided including spring biased pins adapted to laterally slide in the tracks of upper and lower frame members, respectively, during opening and closing of the slidable window panel.

The slidable window panel may be approximately flush with the fixed panels when in the closed position, but not in the opened position. In certain example embodiments, the movable window sheet or panel may be opened by a user actuating a latch assembly which allows one or more spring loaded pins to be moved from a locked to an unlocked position(s). When the spring loaded pins move into an unlocked position as the latch assembly is actuated, the movable window panel can be moved slightly toward the vehicle interior and then slid laterally in respective tracks in order to open the same.

  • Publication number: 20020148163
Abstract: A rear window assembly for a pick-up truck. A slidable window panel is provided between first and second fixed window panels. In order to open the slidable window panel, at least a portion thereof is popped outwardly and thereafter the panel is slid along at least first and second tracks to an open position. In certain embodiments, opaque layer(s) may be provided on an exterior surface of the slidable panel in order to hide from view support arm(s) or the like utilized for supporting the slidable panel as it is slid to its open/closed position. Moreover, in certain embodiments tracks are located on the inboard side of the slidable panel in locations so as to be at least partially hidden from view. A power opening/closing system for the window is provided in certain embodiments. A spring-biased window closing system is provided in certain embodiments.
