  • Patent number: 10648300
Abstract: A shape charge venting apparatus and method for venting gases generated during deflagration. The venting apparatus and method including vent grooves inside the shape charge providing a pathway for deflagration gases to escape the shape charge. The venting apparatus and method also may include using a retainer ring in addition to the vent groove in order to hold the components of the shape charge in place. The venting of the gases during deflagration facilitates pressure relief within the shape charge and increases safety from accidental detonation during a fire.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 15, 2014
Date of Patent: May 12, 2020
    Assignee: Hunting Titan, Inc.
Inventors: William Richard Collins, Mark Allan Pederson, Ian Douglas Rudnik
  • Patent number: 10458212
Abstract: An apparatus and method for specialized shaped charges that perforate similar sized diameter holes regardless of the fluid gaps between the shaped charge and the casing wall. Shaped charges having three conical or frusto-conical liner sections are disclosed, where the apex liner section has a larger conical angle than the outer liner section are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 30, 2019
Date of Patent: October 29, 2019
