  • Patent number: 6922671
Abstract: A system and method for organizing program code and database objects implemented within an enterprise server in support of the accounting and/or procurement systems of a plurality of customer companies. The customer companies are organized into groups of companies having the same accounting rules, and a company grouping code assigned to each company group. Responsive to input through a browser of a requisition request and user ID including a password, a user profile database is accessed to determine the user's company grouping code. Responsive to the company grouping code, a URL or other type of program call to company specific accounting rules is generated to apply appropriate accounting procedures and program logic. Responsive to the program logic and accounting rules accessed by, for example, that URL, the requisition request is applied and validated against company specific data in a common database.

  • Publication number: 20030131018
Abstract: A method and structure for maintaining common business control data across a plurality of applications is provided. A model of business rules is developed and entered in a relational database. Business control data is entered into the database according to the rules and thereafter respective portions of the business control are disseminated to a plurality of applications. A common data administration application may be used to receive input from logged on individuals and automated feed from a source system and enter business data into the relational database. The applications are designed to integrate portions of the common data model and rules. The data model itself is reproduced in part across all of the applications so that when the common data administration application updates data and rules, that data is propagated to distributed relational databases that have the same structure and rules.

  • Patent number: 5710917
Abstract: This invention describes a computer application system and method for automatically deriving data mappings by processing stored data mappings. Derived data mappings are system generated data mappings. The system comprises a plurality of stored data mappings, a data mapping report generator, and a data mapping tool. Heretofore, data mappings were created by human analysis of data from two or more sources to determine the relationship between data fields. This time consuming process has been eliminated by the present invention. The derived data mappings may be stored for later use or provided to other system programs. The derivation may be performed at various levels of abstraction. Derived data mappings that should not be used are also identified.
