  • Patent number: 9004646
Abstract: A rotary inkjet imaging apparatus includes a curved print zone having a longitudinal axis and in which a page of media is held in a curved configuration at a stationary position, a carrier movable bi-directionally along a linear path defined adjacent to the curved print zone and extending parallel to the longitudinal axis thereof, and at least one inkjet printhead supported by the carrier for undergoing movement within the curved print zone along a curved path winding about a central axis extending parallel to the guide path and coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the curved print zone such that the inkjet printhead moves about the central axis multiple revolutions and prints on the page concurrently as the carrier unidirectionally moves along the linear path and the printhead moves within the curved print zone and through portions of the curved path in which the printhead faces toward the page.

  • Publication number: 20140295426
Abstract: A method for diagnosing or differentially diagnosing a cancer characterized by the presence of cancer cells in the pleural fluid of a mammalian subject, the method comprising contacting a sample of pleural fluid of the subject with colloidal magnetic particles coupled to a ligand which binds to a determinant on a cancer cell, but does not bind above a baseline threshold to other cellular and non-cellular components in pleural fluid; subjecting the pleural fluid-magnetic particle mixture to a magnetic field to produce a cell fraction enriched in ligand coupled-magnetic particle-bound cancer cells, if present in the pleural fluid; and analyzing the enriched fraction for the number of cancer cells in the pleural fluid. In certain aspects, this method involves preparing the pleural fluids for the above-noted method steps by, e.g., dilution of unprocessed pleural fluid. In certain aspect, the pleural fluid is subjected to the diagnostic method within 24 hours of withdrawal from the subject.

  • Publication number: 20130157347
Abstract: Compositions, systems, and methods comprising circulating endothelial cells (CECs) are provided. The compositions described herein utilize isolated CECs, including compositions in a form that allows analysis of the CECs. The systems described herein utilize isolated CECs and an analytical tool or an output from an analytical tool. The methods described herein are related to the use of isolated CECs and analytical tools for providing information, to a health care provider or the CEC donor, that is relevant to the cardiovascular health of the CEC donor. Thus, the compositions, systems and methods described herein involve both a transformation (e.g., non-isolated CECs to isolated CECs, or isolated CECs to analyzed CECs) and a machine (e.g., isolation tools and analytical tools).

  • Patent number: 8162438
Abstract: A rotary inkjet imaging apparatus includes a carrier movable bi-directionally along a linear guide path defined adjacent to a curved print zone and extending parallel to a longitudinal axis thereof, and an inkjet printhead disc having a body and at least one and preferably multiple printhead chips integrated into its perimeter. The disc body is supported by the carrier for undergoing movement within the curved print zone along a curved path winding about a central axis extending parallel to the guide path and coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the curved print zone such that the disc body moves about the central axis multiple revolutions and the printhead chips print on the page concurrently as the carrier unidirectionally moves along the linear guide path and the disc body moves within the curved print zone and through portions of the curved path in which the chips face toward the page.
