  • Publication number: 20180192159
Abstract: A media content packaging and distribution system that handles the distribution of one or more channels, receives a programming schedule of a channel of the one or more channels which includes one or more content placement opportunities (CPOs). At least a CPO from the one or more CPOs, associated metadata, and one or more channel parameters of the channel is communicated to an exchange system to facilitate a bidding procedure to populate the CPO with a media item related to a winning bid in the bidding procedure. The media item related to the winning bid is dynamically inserted at a specified position in a media feed associated with the CPO. A resultant media feed that includes the media item is distributed over a distribution network to be viewed on one or more consumer devices. The media item inserted in the resultant media feed is selected by a bidder associated with the winning bid based on an outcome of the bidding procedure in the exchange system.

  • Publication number: 20180192079
Abstract: A live content distribution device that dynamically generates video-on-demand (VOD) assets for multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs), receives a live video feed, a plurality of triggers, and metadata from a broadcast provider system over a communication network. The live content distribution device is provided in a MVPD system. A plurality of segments are determined in the received live video feed based on the received plurality of triggers and metadata. One or more VOD content assets are dynamically generated based on a package for playout to one or more servers communicatively coupled with the MVPD system. The package includes one or more of the determined plurality of segments and metadata associated with the determined plurality of segments.

  • Publication number: 20180192110
Abstract: A content packaging and distribution system that handles distribution of channels to be viewed on a plurality of consumer devices, receives a media feed and a first programming schedule of a first channel from a source device. An input that corresponds to a user-selection is received on a first consumer device of the plurality of consumer devices over a distribution system, and a media item to be inserted in the media feed of the first channel is determined based on criteria related to the user-selection. The determined media item may be dynamically scheduled in the media feed of the first channel to be delivered over the distribution system to be viewed on the first consumer device, based on the user-selection related criteria. The user-selection includes a first criterion that corresponds to a real time or a near-real time user input corresponding to the user-selection on the first consumer device.

  • Patent number: 9900360
Abstract: A distributed system processing a publisher's streaming data. The distributed system comprises multiple workers and publisher data stores, each publisher data store dedicated to a worker and a publisher. A sampling ratio (the fraction of data items for storage in the publisher's data store) is selected by a publisher data store's worker based on historical information. At least two workers select different sampling ratios. Data items representing an interaction between an entity and the publisher are received. Each data item is assigned to a worker for processing. A hash function is applied to the data item's identifier, resulting in a key value falling within the hash function's range. The scope of the publisher's data store is equal to the hash function's range multiplied by the sampling ratio of the publisher's data store. A data item with a key value within the scope of the publisher's data store is stored therein.

  • Patent number: 9846895
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to generating and managing an advertising campaign based on a third-party listing. In particular, an identifier associated with a listing posted over a third-party service from a user of the third-party service is received. Listing data for the listing is retrieved from the third-party service using the identifier associated with the listing. Thereafter, an advertising campaign is automatically generated based at least in part on the retrieved listing data. In one aspect, generation of the advertising campaign includes generating an advertising creative using the retrieved listing data. Subsequently, an advertising opportunity is selected according to the generated advertising campaign. Following the selection, an advertisement based on the advertising creative is provided to a content provider associated with the advertising opportunity.

  • Patent number: 9815319
Abstract: Holder devices for bulk paint cans comprising planar ergonomic handles having a C-shaped “jaw” that engages only the conventional upper, lip rim of a paint can so that the can may be held at a conveniently inclined angle in one hand during brush painting to permit unobstructed access to the paint. The jaw is common for all sizes of paint cans, as the ring-type can lip is common in its radial dimension and thickness. A slot with optional keeper is provided to retain bails. Three embodiments are shown: a Universal type and two dedicated types, for Quart and Gallon cans, respectively. A magnet provided on the holder retains a paint brush oriented over the paint contents to catch drips. The transition section of the holder is flat to provide a surface on which the holder can be stood upright, and as a hammer to reseal the paint can lid.

  • Patent number: 9673685
Abstract: An improved system for monitoring vibration of an electric machine is disclosed. According to one embodiment, sensors are positioned in a plane orthogonal to the motor shaft and each sensor detects vibration along at least one axis of the motor. The sensors are oriented such that the polarity of each sensor is reversed. The pairs of sensors may be used to isolate specific vibrations within the motor. According to another embodiment, a sensor may be mounted directly to the motor shaft. The sensor on the motor shaft directly detects vibrations along the motor shaft. Optionally, a second sensor may be mounted to a fixed location within the motor housing, and the combination of the sensor on the motor shaft and the sensor at a fixed location may be used to isolate specific vibrations within the motor. A motor controller may adjust operation of the motor to reduce the isolated vibration.
