    Abstract: A chewable or non-chewable, palatable and shelf stable dietary supplement for animals including a carrier matrix formed of a natural substance and an effective amount of a medicament intermixed with the carrier matrix. Methods for administering a medicament to an animal may include forming a slurry from a natural substance; mixing an effective amount of a medicament with the slurry to form a mixture; pouring the mixture into a mold; freezing the mixture to form a frozen mixture; drying the frozen mixture to form a freeze-dried dietary supplement; and administering the dietary supplement to an animal. Methods for preparing a dietary supplement may include providing a natural substance to form a carrier matrix for the medicament; slurrifying the natural substance to form a slurry; mixing an effective amount of the medicament with the slurry to form a mixture; pouring the mixture into a mold; freezing the mixture; and removing moisture from the mixture to form a shelf-stable dietary supplement.
