  • Publication number: 20210105529
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for selecting one or more network-connected devices to provide device functions required by an event. A media guidance application may detect an event in which a user is currently engaged. The media guidance application may identify a set of device capabilities associated with the event. The media guidance application may search, within a plurality of network-connected devices of the user, to identify one or more devices that enable functions corresponding to the set of device capabilities to be perceptible to the user, and the media guidance application may instruct the identified one or more devices to provide the functions corresponding to the set of device capabilities associated with the event.

  • Publication number: 20210014078
Abstract: Systems and methods are described adjusting a media asset consumption environment based on detected changes in status of an object. For example, a media guidance application may detect a change in setting of a device in a first room and, in response to detecting the change in the setting, may determine the state of an object in the room. Based on the detected change in the setting and of the state of the object, the media guidance application may identify a setting for a media consumption device and may modify setting of the media consumption device so that it is consistent with the conditions defined by the change in the setting and the state of the object.

  • Patent number: 10856034
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for adapting a second user input device to resemble a first user input device while preserving new functionalities not available in the first user input device. The systems and methods may identify, based on identifiers of the first and second user input devices, a first and second set of device functionalities provided by the devices. The systems and methods may compare the sets of device functionalities to determine a set of common device functionalities and, in response, modify the display of an input of the second user input device to correspond to visual attributes of an input of the first user input device.

  • Publication number: 20020088385
Abstract: An economical kite control that allows a user to quickly and easily modulate the angle of attack of the kite without interfering with the user's ability to quickly and simultaneously steer the kite and without fatiguing the user. The kite control is preferably an elongate, substantially straight, control rod for simultaneously steering and controlling the angle of attack of the kite, and is preferably used in the sport of kiteboarding. In particular, left and right steering lines on the kite, which also serve as power and depower lines, are secured to respective ends of the rod such that rotation of the rod in a first direction along its longitudinal axis causes these lines to wrap around the rod, thereby shortening them with respect to respective depower lines extending from the rod to the kite. In a preferred embodiment, the control rod is operably harnessed to the user.

  • Patent number: 6275479
Abstract: A communication satellite transmitting system includes communication signal amplifiers (e.g., traveling wave tube (TWT) amplifiers) with outputs that are multiplexed among multiple transmit horns, each of which transmits a downlink communication signal to a corresponding geographic cells. In one implementation, each TWT amplifier is multiplexed among at least three transmit horns.

  • Patent number: 6141534
Abstract: A communication satellite system dynamically allocates additional downlink resources on the satellite to selected downlink signals to compensate for signal degradation. A typical cause of such degradation is rain where the downlink station is located. Another cause of such degradation is increased communication traffic or bandwidth demand within a particular region.

  • Patent number: 5270900
Abstract: An apparatus for energizing the coil of, and detecting the resultant armature actuation in, a solenoid of the type having a movable armature reciprocable along an axis between first and second positions, a spring bias normally biasing the armature toward the first position, and an actuating coil for inducing a force on the armature tending to move the armature from the first position toward the second position in response to current flow in the actuating coil. A voltage is first provided to the solenoid coil and thereafter, a resulting current flow is differentiated and a zero crossing comparator is utilized to determine when the differentiated current is zero and, therefor, the time at which the sensed current flow reaches a maximum (dv/dt=0). The time at which the armature began to move in response to the resulting coil current may be inferred and the voltage to the solenoid coil interrupted a Predetermined time after the time at which the armature began to move.
