  • Patent number: 7124606
Abstract: A lockout safety hasp is provided including a rotational shackle coupled to a top of a body having a U-shaped securing beam extending from the bottom thereof. A slidable cover is received on the body and is moveable between a closed position in which the rotatable shackle is locked in place and an open position in which the shackle is free to rotate. The securing beam is generally U-shaped and provides an opening sized and dimensioned to receive one or more padlocks, the padlocks preventing the cover from moving out of the closed position until all of the padlocks are removed. The components of the lockout safety hasp can be constructed of a plastic or a plastic polymer, and snap fit together to provide an inexpensive and easy to manufacture device.

  • Patent number: 6617532
Abstract: A switch lockout device for securing a toggle switch of a circuit breaker. The lockout device includes a housing having an opening for positioning around the toggle switch. A screw is threaded through the housing and is tightened against the toggle switch to restrain it. A circular disk is secured at one end of the screw and is lockable to a member slidable with respect to the housing, for preventing the disk from movement.

  • Patent number: 5577599
Abstract: Switch lockouts are disclosed which may be fixed to a single toggle switch, a ganged toggle switch, or a similarly acting switch, valve operator, or similar structure to prevent the switch from being operated. The lockout comprises a projection and abutments which engage the switch handle and the body of the switch. The projection extends into an aperture of the handle in one embodiment, or under the crossbar of a ganged handle in another. The abutments, and in some instances the projection, embrace the handle and prevent substantial rotation of the handle with respect to the lockout, or of the lockout with respect to the switch body. Thus, the switch handle, switch body, and lockout are fixed substantially immovably together.

  • Patent number: 5543593
Abstract: A lockout device for an electrical switch has a mounting plate adapted to be attached to the cover plate of the electrical switch. The mounting plate has a pair of mounting apertures which permit it to be attached to the face plate and an aperture formed to circumscribe the switch's actuation member. A blocking plate extends from the mounting plate near its bottom edge. A cover is slidably connected to the mounting plate for movement between an open position at which the actuation member is accessible and a closed position at which the open bottom of the cover abuts the blocking plate so that cover and blocking plate enclose the actuation member. A locking mechanism allows the cover to be locked in its closed position. The cover can be transparent so that the actuation member is visible through the cover when the cover is in its closed position.
