  • Patent number: 10512443
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for measuring vibrations in an imaging system. In one embodiment, a method for a computed tomography (CT) system includes measuring a vibration level of a rotatable gantry of the CT system with a balance sensor coupled to a stationary housing of the CT system and outputting a notification indicating potential image artifacts based on the vibration level exceeding a vibration threshold.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 24, 2019
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Chad Allan Smith, Mark Edmund Reznicek, Ariel Friedlander

  • Patent number: 6890100
Abstract: A method and system for balancing CT gantry mechanisms. Two balance locations are preselected on the rotating base member and stacks of spacers, shims, and weights are provided at each site. Strain gate sensors are provided on the stationary base member and included as part of a sensor circuit. Trial and test runs determine the mass and Z-location of the mass which needs to be added to the system to statically and dynamically balance it.
