  • Patent number: 8311823
Abstract: A method of conducting a search includes tagging a user selected segment of audio content that includes search criteria to define an audio clip. The audio clip is captured from the audio content and transferred to a search support function to conduct a search based on the search criteria from the audio clip.

  • Patent number: 8239480
Abstract: A method of conducting a search using a mobile electronic device may include playing digital audio content at the mobile electronic device, and accepting user input at the mobile electronic device to capture a portion of the digital audio content. Search criteria may be provided wherein the search criteria is based on the captured portion of the digital audio content and on information separate from the captured portion of the digital audio content. A search may be conducted using the search criteria based on the captured portion of the digital audio content and on the information separate from the captured portion of the digital audio content. A result of the search may be provided at the mobile electronic device, and the result of the search may be displayed at the mobile electronic device.

  • Patent number: 8045799
Abstract: Image data for a digital photograph is segmented into a first portion and a second portion. The image data of the second portion is processed to have a quality lower than the image data of the first portion. An image file for the scene is stored where the image file contains image data corresponding to the first and second portions so that the image file has a high quality portion and a low quality portion.

  • Publication number: 20090128644
Abstract: Generating a photograph with a digital camera may include capturing a first image of a scene with a first zoom setting and capturing a second image of the scene with a second zoom setting, where the second zoom setting corresponds to higher magnification than the first zoom setting. The second image may be stitched into the first image in place of a removed portion of the first image that corresponds to a portion of the scene represented by the second image. The result is the photograph, which has a region corresponding to image data of the second image and a region corresponding to image data of the first image.

  • Publication number: 20090096927
Abstract: A video coding technique and system employ variable compression for different portions of an imaged scene and motion tracking of an object. The object is coded to have higher fidelity than a remainder of the scene. The higher fidelity facilitates tracking of the object that, in turn, assists in maintaining quality coding of the object.

  • Publication number: 20080134012
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method of bundling full or partial decoding and/or post-processing mechanisms together with media content in the form of an electronic file. The combined file may be transmitted to another device that is able to execute the decoding and/or post-processing such that the receiving device can render the media content in an appropriate manner (e.g., playback of audio, display a picture, etc.) with sufficient fidelity. Aspects of the present invention extend the use of metadata associated with the a multimedia content to incorporate a specification for how the multimedia file should be decoded or partially decoded from a compressed state (e.g., MP3, JPEG, WAV, etc.) and post-processed into a state than can be rendered by a device. In one embodiment, the specification is in the form of a script comprising an ordered list of functions or primitives that are executed by the receiving device to transform the associated multimedia file into the desired content to be rendered.

  • Publication number: 20080065699
Abstract: A distributed content search system comprises a synchronization component, a distributed content search database, and a distributed content search component. The synchronization component receives, from each of a plurality of participating devices: i) identification of at least one content item being obtainable from the participating device; and ii) metadata associated with the subject of the at least one content item. The distributed content search database associates: i) identification of the participating device from which the content item is obtainable; and ii) the metadata associated with the subject of the content item. The distributed content search component receives a search query input from a querying device and returns search results. The search results comprise, for each of a plurality of instances of relevant distributed content, a link to the participating device form which the relevant distributed content is obtainable.

  • Publication number: 20080059170
Abstract: A method of processing a sound signal in preparation for conducting an audio-based search on a portion of the sound signal where the portion of the sound signal has an initial starting point and an initial ending point includes identifying speech features that have a relationship to the portion of the sound signal. The initial starting point and/or the initial ending point may be adjusted. In one adjustment, at least one of the initial starting point or the initial ending point are adjusted so that the portion of the sound signal includes a speech feature that at least partially occurs before the initial starting point or at least partially occurs after the initial ending point.
